Hermit of my heart St. Felix of are Worth
HOLY FELIX OF ARE WORTH

APRIL 4, 1127 - NOVEMBER 4, 1212

FOUNDING HERMIT OF THE TRINITAIRE ORDER WITH SAINT JEAN OF MATHA

Preface

Although the life of Felix saint of are Worth was only erasing in view of the Lord, now, he/it is time to know it so that he/it implores the Trinidad Saint to break the chains. How many people would need him in order to fill so many lacks and to come closer of God who likes them so much! God permits this hyphen between sky and earth in order to attract the more of possible souls, while he is again time. He/it already makes so late itself and so many souls take the bad path, surrendering slaves of so many futile things. Saint Felix of are Worth is a path that leads until this God of love and compassion who knows better than whoever the needs of his/her/its children.

Prayer

The mind of the Lord Yahvé is on me because Yahvé dedicated me by the unction, He sent me to carry the good news to the poor, to dress the broken cœurses, to announce to the captives the liberation and to the prisoners the widening (Is 61,1)

1 - the child of a dream

Felix was of the royal blood of France of the lineage of the Capets. His/her/its father named himself/itself Raoul IV, count of are Worth, and his/her/its mother Eléonore, sister of Thibaud III, account of Champagne. Felix is born in Amiens in France, April 4, 1127. He/it was named Hugues to the baptism, His/her/its mother was very devout; during his/her/its pregnancy, she/it had had a dream in which a voice had told to him: '' Your son will exchange the flower of lily for the Christ's cross ''

The mother of Hugues had serious problems with his/her/its spouse. She/it was in the obligation to confide his/her/its son to Bernard saint in the abbey of Clairvaux toward the age of 5 years. Hugues was attached very to his/her/its mother, he must pour his/its love on Bernard saint. He/it stayed to his/her/its quoted until toward the age of 12 years.
II - Son of a home divided

The small Hugues has unfortunately about 12 years, the problems between his/her/its father and his/her/its mother worsen to one point as his/her/its father leaves his/her/its mother to take another wife. The mother of Hugues sees herself/itself constraint abandoning his/her/its son. His/her/its brother, the account of Champagne, adopts the small Hugues in order to can to his/her/its education and his/her/its instruction, Hugues must leave the abbey of Clairvaux to be placed in a college. It was a tearing for the small Hugues to leave holy Bernard on that, he/it had poured all his/her/its affection. Hugues is in a college at the age of 12 years, abandoned of his.

He/it will stay all along his/her/its deeply attached life to his/her/its mother's memory. In his/her/its abandonment, the small Hugues throws itself in the arms of his/her/its Mother of the sky, because he knows in his/its heart that She will never abandon it. Henceforth, he will throw his/its claim secretly on the only desire to perfect his/her/its instruction and to prepare his/her/its heart to become priest.
III - Hugues, the young crusader,

The mom of Hugues dies in Saint-Quentin in 1147. This same year, Hugues leaves for the crusades with kings Louis VII. The count of Champagne sees himself/itself reassured because Hugues is a little more aged than his/her/its son Henri, he hopes that he will have a good influence on his/her/its son. Before the schemings and the ambitions sometimes bloody, of which Hugues is a witness, deepens itself in read the only God desire, he will stay in Earth Saint until 1155, cooperating to the charity and preaching God's speech, combining of Jesus' mind on the sites even or the incarnate Verb lived passed. His/her/its father dies October 14, 1151, reconciled with the church but letting his/her/its disinherited son.

Hugues meets an anchorite in Terre-Sainte. His/her/its big desire, his/her/its big decision,: since the finished crusades, he/it will be going to join it in order to finds this God trinity of which his/her/its heart has if thirst and his/her/its soul has if hunger.
IV - The joy of the ministration

After eight years of crusades to the service of King Louis VII, Hugues passes there by Romme to venerate the tombs of the Apostle Pierre and Paul. He/it joins The anchorite of the North of Italy in order to receive communion to his/her/its solitude, the important to form his/her/its soul and to imitate it gradually to the most total detachment and to the perpetual prayer. He/it eats day and night of God's speech intensely, He/it frequents the Saint Presence assiduously in the tabernacle; he/it has the quick faith that resuscitated Jesus is well always there present, Priest and perfect Victim for the salute of the world. He/it tries to imitate this God that he/it adores better and better, and to discover in the Saint Host, this Living Trinidad that gives itself and give in by love of his/her/its creatures.

The hermit convinces it to ask for the ministration in order to be able to live in hermitage: in all obedience, he/it makes it. At the time of his/her/its consecration, he/it gives himself/itself to Virgin Marie. Back by his/her/its master, he/it only lived a short time with him. It was so pained to see his/her/its master and unique friend expiring in are arm, letting him for all good his/her/its lodging and his/her/its prayers.

Hugues stays a certain only time, praying and himself mortifying, waiting for God's call in order to accomplish his/her/its views and no his clean, In the solitude and the pain, he feels God's call to return in France.
V - A hermit to the wood of Gandelu

In the prayer and the God solitude answers and Hugues sees the moment returning in his/her/its homeland. Before leaving the places where live the day his/her/its holy and lone life, feeling the happiest of the men, he/it changes his/its name in the one of FELIX that means in Latin '' HAPPY ''

Back in France, he/it isolates himself/itself in the wood of Gandelu, in are Worth it, to the confines of the Brie to 2 km. Of Montigny - to ally It, small village of about 1000 inhabitants.

The big forest will be his/her/its permanent home, It will be going to look for his/her/its cool water in the source in the wood of Cerfroid. This source throws itself in the torrent of the Clignon. Felix descends there regularly to draw water, to cool off the feet and to wash itself/themselves of it. He/it picks the wicker, of which he/it has need to plait the baskets that he/it will use to transport the mushrooms, the fruits and the wild herbs there and of the walnuts that he/it will exchange for eggs, the formage, bread and milk in weekly fair of Montigny. The season come, it delights himself/itself of strawberries of the fields, It eats little, sleeps little and pray a lot. He/it goes by the paths, naked feet, clothed of his/her/its homespun dress,; he/it cut his/its magnificent hair. He/it is hardly recognizable. He/it believes in the way of the love and the humility. He/it shares his/its peace and is full of goodness for the rare people who adventure until his/her/its lodging in the forest. He/it loves the wild animals and sharing a lot often with them his/her/its food; he/it likes watering them in the hollow of his/her/its hands a lot.

A rustic cross in hard stone is again '' to the fields of the hermits '' where stayed Felix. One distinguishes the features there again of Crucified it on a face and the Woman-Mother of The apocalypse with his/her/its Child that she/it carries in her/its arms, on a the other face. This one treads its feet the crescent in sign of Victory. These holy effigies have been hammered vainly by the picks of the Huguenot; one can recognize them again in their main features.

Crucified it, proof without price of the love of the eternal for every human being, and the Virgin victorious Mother, the most beautiful fruit of this Blood Redeeming, such are the two indispensable poles, one tragic, the glaring other, that our hermit constantly contemplates in the prayer and the meditation, for the biggest glory of God and the salute of the men.

Living retired in the wood of Gandelu, far from all and all, Felix is the happiest of the men.

Very lone, he/it likes and want this solitude ardently to God's heart. He/it is quite given and abandoned to the spouse's holy will with that he/it lives of big hours of intimacy in love so that he/it forms his/its soul and speak at his/her/its heart.

It is at the heart of this solitude in this total abandonment that God, like an arrow, transfixes his heart. Instant blessed and chosen where Felix hears God's call toward the a lot of Saint Trinidad, to Know God three times Saint, that like it forever. Happy, he/it finally found shaved reason to live and to die: God One in his/her/its nature and Three in his/her/its people.

Felix exegete passes of big moments to read and to translate the Saints writings. On occasion, some people his/her/its return in wood in order to meet Felix who is reserved very and welcoming. Seeing his/her/its big virtues and his/her/its exegete's talents, some communities approach it but he/it refuses, wanting to answer the call that God deposited in his heart. He/it waits in the prayer and the mortification, letting God prepare his/her/its heart and his/her/its soul to become the smallest of the small and the servant of all by love of the a lot of Saint Trinidad. It is in this mood that God trains all his/her/its being to his/her/its future vocation to the service of the a lot of Saint Trinidad.
VI - The arrival of a faithful mate

During this time, Jean of Mathan decides to go toward Felix in the wood of Gandelu, in order to consult it, having heard to speak of him as mystic deeply bound at the Saint Trinidad.

Arrived to the wood of Gandelu, Jean tells Felix that at the time of the celebration of his/her/its first Mass, he asks God at the time of the consecration. '' Lord that you want that I make? '' To the same moment, raising the eyes skywards, he/it sees Jesus clothed of white with a red and blue cross on the heart. He/it presents to Jean, two men linked of different race, seeming to be weakened and bruise under the strokes. He/it understands that it is there the symbol of the order that God waits for him. He/it shares with Felix his/her/its aspirations about the formation that the order of the a lot of Saint Trinidad and the redemption of the captives.

Felix sees the depth and the nobility of heart of this young man of 40 years dedicated to God, who demonstrates an innate sense of the organization and that as him, has a deep devotion in the Saint Trinidad.

It is in an atmosphere of silence and prayer that Felix elaborate with lucidity their project of foundation in order to build a lasting work, Felix exegete works to the texts of God's speech and provides his/her/its vast experience érémitique. Jean approaches the various problems of the interior life and the outside organization. It is necessary to harmonize active and contemplative life. All two stay to God's monitoring sharing his/her/its speech and eating his/her/its body and his/her/its blood, They get lost in praise, in contemplation and in worship for the Augustus Trinité.

Felix and Jean will make so that the Living and Present Trinidad by The Eucharist and Crucified it are the source and add it of their life and the order. Fed by this spirituality, this Religious Order will be vowed to the acquisition of the captives and the care of the destitute and of disinherited them.

All these Christian persecuted, tortured, jailed, irons to the feet, are in incalculable numbers. Many come of the crusades, their faith is in danger, as well as the one of their near. The heart of Felix and Jean's heart endure before their screams of despair, the strokes of whips, the noise of their chains that they drag with so much pain, what intolerable torments! Yes, it is necessary to purchase them to all price!

Animate by the unique desire to please è the august Trinidad, it is in the prayer, to the breath of the mind - Saint that they write the Rules of the order. came Then the hour to leave toward the Eternal City…
VII - under way toward the eternal city.

The paths are nearly impassable and Felix is already advanced in age. The project of the order of the a lot of Saint Trinidad wishes to be a lot of avant-gardist, but Felix and Jean rely on God. They win on foot and to back of donkey the Eternal City in order to meet Innocent III there.

A prudence had pushed them to carry letters testimoniales on behalf of the bishops of Paris and Meauxes as well as several other characters of mark. But like God's work, they know big tests. Them e stumbles to the most tenacious objections of the papal canonistes. Their project knocks forehead the norms sagements planned by the right for the regular Orders. Did he/it seem absurd to conceive the religious out of the inviolable surrounding wall of cloister, browsing the roads and crossing the seas, and it, in very virtue of their Rule? Besides, how to succeed in reconciling the union to God by the contemplation to the Eucharist and to Crucified it and the service by the apostolic action of the acquisition of the captives?

Worship, contemplation, acquisition of the captives, cares to the destitute, to disinherited them '' enterprise that seems to hold the dream '..

Jean and Felix keep all their faith in God and maintain firmly their mailed. They ask to see the Pope insistently.

To the papal interview, Jean and Felix expose the goal of the newborn work, the big misery of the slaves, the means judged capable to rescue them and the concrete realizations recorded until has this day. Seizing the advantage that for the church would have such an order, the Pope accepts, to take under the protection of the apostolic Seat the three houses of Cerfroid, Planels, and of Bour-La-Reine. By prudence, he/it asks for some guaranteed, conditions necessary to the success of all foundation, He/it imposes to the founders therefore to revise their Rule.

Felix and Jean takes the road of Paris to execute faithfully wants them of Christ's Priest; to be able to get back again under way some months later toward the Eternal City…
VIII - The three amen

In the meantime, Innocent III knows precisely, by the exercise of the supreme pontificate, the most urgent needs of the church,: need of reform, need of compassion and mercy towards the oppressed and the destitute, need of unit and coalition against the enemies of the outside, need finally of high science and beaming virtue to bring back to the home the stray sheep or to save those that the pain risks to lose forever.

God comforts his august servant; during the celebration of the holy Mass, the pope Innocent III receives an identical revelation to the one of which Jean of Matha was presented at the time of the celebration of his/her/its first Eucharist.

The hesitations that tormented the Pope's mind until then about the approval of the order, yield the place to a deep peace and to a saint is enthusiastic. The three '' AMEN '' that bloom spontaneously under his/her/its feather in his/her/its Bubble of February 3, 1199 make faith of it.

As soon as he/it teaches the presence of Jean of Matha and Felix of are Worth at Rome, Innocent III asks for them by him by messengers. During these days of waiting, hasten to see them the Pope again exclaims:; '' That the Lord sends them to me ''

Touched of the Pope's gentleness to their consideration, Jean and Felix hurry to run by him, They present to Innocent III the result of their work, They accept his/her/its suggestions humbly and don't search for in all that the perfect conformity to the papal thought. This time indeed, God's mind shows his presence.

In the first year of his/her/its pontificate Innocent III, servant of God's servants approves the order of Trinidad and the Redemption of the Captives solemnly as well as her '' Clean Rule '' written by Jean and Felix, in Cerfroid.
IX - Cerfroid first house trinitaire

Cerfroid, religious house constructed close to the source where came to drink the founding hermits. The domain intensifies by the numerous in generous donors, coming for several highest families of France.

Numerous are the men and the women, and even of the whole families, who want to give themselves '' bodies and goods '' to this new work of acquisition and joined mercy to the devotion of the cloister, oasis indispensable of contemplation and fraternity.

In 1199, Jean of Matha must leave to accomplish with mates the first acquisitions of captives, favored by the truce of twelve years that the king of Morocco has just signed with the Christian princes. He/it enters all happy in Marseille with the two hundred free slaves. He/it founds a house there in Marseille, and other ell in Arles.

Lasting his/her/its absence, Felix is in charge of the house of Cerfroid, especially with the care to supervise the firm of the north of France and the county of Flanders. More and more mates and companions come to join the trinitaires. As Felix already acquired a certain spiritual perfection, he must to share it with the other, that have the ardent desire of it.

The hermit of the wood of Gandelu to the words that make to vibrate the heart and to shudder the soul, had become this old man to the delicate gestures, to the tender heart, all full of humility,; as he/it was attentive to the confidences, the vibrant heart of compassion and mercy.

Priest, confessor, liberating and consolatory of the souls, in search of God, devoted without himself laser, he/it was welcome and tenderness towards all those that came toward him, As he/it knew to like, to share and to forgive.

When Jean comes back of his first journey, Felix cannot contain his joy, nor to keep his/her/its tears. He/it will always be for Jean, the adviser and sustains it; he/it will be the animator been born of all this first contemplative trinitaires have mission of redemption and mercy.
X - Felix, minister of Marseille 1203-1210

Felix's beneficent action being especially himself in the north of France and the present Belgium, In 1202, a first house founds to Pâris, close to St.-German the Auxserrois, to the door St. Dennis, out the walls, well humbly.

Jean of Mathan returns to Provence and in Aragon there to sow some foundations, and there to establish many mates and companions, to multiply the religious, the nuns, and the laymen men and woman of the big Family Trinitaire there,: The needs of the destitute, the patients and the Moorish and Christian captives are there so numerous.

In 1203, Felix becomes minister of Marseille, very active house, situated in the port, close to the cathedral. That year, an understanding with the Chapter of Marseille will impose to the Trinitaireses to accept conditions of poverty, that put them completely between the hands of providence; Felix and Jean, with their sons and spiritual girls, accept this challenge of the fate to really maintain itself/themselves present there, where is the poor and the captives. This situation will last until 1270 and the trinitaires will remain always there, courageous and happy, on the breach.

In 1210, February 4, Felix will see his/her/its patience, his/her/its discretion, his/her/its illuminated diplomacy of of it - high, to get the chapter of the Marseille a generosity; the grant of an adjacent land home of Saint Trinidad.

The beginning of the war of the Albigeoises, the eddies that she/it produces since 1209, in Provence and Aragon, one must multiply worries for the good and valiant Felix. Even in his/her/its house, it should have been patient and inventive to reconcile the Provencal with the French of the North: his/her/its situation was surely very heroic. He/it must go back to Cerfroid
.
XI - Our Lady Of the Sharing

When in 1202, Jean must leave from the Aragon to accomplish an acquisition in Valencia, he knew a difficult situation. The money necessary to this redemption, comes to miss to him.

So intimately united to his/her/its mate, Felix had the intuition of these difficulties, and life conscience of the danger for Jean to remain prisoner, and to let there can - to be his/her/its life.

The houses trinitaires multiplied prayers and penitences to rescue their redeeming father.

The sky answered è their prayer: Marie, herself, comes to carry the help. '' Our Lady of the Sharing '' second efficiently Jean of Matha and his/her/its sons so that they accomplish the sharing of the third.

Jean of Matha enters to Marseille with his/her/its captives so free; he/it has Marie's miraculous aid known.

The Marseillais in the enthusiasm make sculpt a statue in time, of a naive art but, very talking: The Virgin very pudgy door on his/her/its knees the child - very chubby Jesus; she/it carries in her/its right hand a purse very full of strong money; the child carries a moneybox. One names it '' Our Lady of the Remedy '', Mother of the Savior and of purchased them. Marie and his/her/its divine Child will make themselves the first collection takers of the acquisition of the captives with the redeeming trinitaires.
XII - Felix twilight of his/her/its life.

The night of the 7 to September 8, 1212, whereas all left to Meaux to sing matins of the feast of Marie's Nativity, with the chapter of the Cathedral, Felix remains alone to the convent, being too aged and bruised to do this so much wanted journey, Pained, he/it confides his/its grief to the Virgin that he/it likes so much. In his/her/its Mother's immense love, the Virgin donned of white carrying on his/her/its heart the cross red and blue trinitaire, comes to join him to sing matins.

Felix este already to the twilight of his/her/its pilgrimage, following the visit of his/her/its very holy Mother, he/it asks the Lord to see Jean the one that had been his/her/its dearest mate on the earth again, in order to kiss it and to tighten it in his/her/its arms a last time. In his/her/its infinite goodness, the Lord granted him this demand so ingenuous.

Felix dies aged of four twenty five years, November 4, 1212, having pushed his/her/its whole life on the worship of Crucified it and of the Living Trinidad by the Eucharist, while uniting to his/her/its very holy Mother, to the angels and to the saints.
