Saint Pascal Franciscan Baylon the saint of the Eucharist -2-

III chapter

The Seraph of the Eucharist

February 2, 1564 in Marie's purification, our Blessed who reached his/her/its twenty-four years, received the dress of the Poverello sat down to the Convent of Loreto. He/it kept his/her/its Pascal's name.

One guesses how he/it spent the year of his/her/its novitiate. The practice of the virtues or he/it already excelled, was his/her/its daily life. But he/it wanted before all to accomplish the will of his/her/its superior q'il considered as the one of God, His/her/its schoolmates were greatly built some. All affirm that the young beginner possessed the virtues of a religious perfect while qu the reputation of his/her/its holiness cleared the cloister. After the year of probation, to his/her/its big joy, he/it was admitted to the religious profession in an intimate ceremony.

We won't insist on the eight years or he/it stayed to the service of his/her/its brothers in the convent of Loreto, occupied to collection taker's office or to cook, we won't tell some more of his/her/its admirable examples, of the miracles that he/it operated and of the apostolate that he/it exercised. The goal of the present monograph is not of present all the life of the big Parton of the Convention Eucharistiqueses, but to recall some characteristic trains of piety only towards Jesus-Host.
II
If Pascal's piety was deep, his/her/its tender love and ardent;si his/her/its cult for the God of the tabernacles was enthusiastic, when it lived again in the middle of the distractions and the perils of the world, one can make itself some idea of the growth of his/her/its faith and his/her/its seraphic ardor after his/her/its entry in the Franciscan order.

He/it was not a priest. He/it could not feel the ineffable happiness to make to be born again between his/her/its dedicated hands, under the mystical veil of the sacramental cash, the Son of the Virgin Mother,; he/it could not distribute the bread of life to the starved souls, or to expose it to the worship of the supporters. But nothing stopped it from going as often as possible to the foot of the tabernacle or he/it conversed for a long time with the Divine Prisoner of love.

The biographies even tell us that Pascal had gotten his superior, the authorization to spend to the church the time of the recreations of the community.

By one day of big cold weather, the Guard of the Convent, in his/her/its solicitude for his/her/its topics, made the kitchen take the recreation. Anxious to provide to our Saint's well-being, he/it ordered him to warm up with his/her/its brothers. Pascal obeys expeditiously. But shortly after, Jesus, of the bottom of his/her/its tabernacles, attracted it with so much by force that the religious poor didn't know how to resist the divine appeal. To distract itself/themselves, he/it began to walk, but in vain. Under the more and more powerful impulse, he/it sighed, moaned and would cry, in the anguish or the obedience kept it, far from his/her/its Treasure, Two religious interfere but they are too weak, the Guard intervenes then to tell the Saint: '' Brother Pascal, stay with us ''!

To this command, Pascal, obeys, He/it stopped there but fell as thunderstruck. His/her/its brothers during to raise it and to transport it years his/her/its cell for him stayed a long time in the sleepiness of the ecstasy. One would have said his/her/its heart wounded by a sting of love! Predestined it of the Eucharist had become the Seraph of it.

III
Of the Convent of Loreto, our Saint was sent in 1573 to the one of Xatiba and shortly after to the one of Valencia.

His/her/its mate of journey let us a newspaper that reveals us Pascal's conduct out of the Convent. In these some lines his/her/its devotion for the Eucharist appears us hoes deep: '' The edification that I gave brother Pascal at the time of our journey of Xatiba, is ineffable in his/her/its soul. Along the way, he/it spoke to me God in a manner so extraordinary that his/her/its burning love inflamed my heart. The devotion to the holy Sacrament and to the Virgin Mary formed the distinctive characters of his/her/its piety. Often, he/it made me recite the office of the Virgin saint, or we knelt under a tree to recite the station of the Saint Sacrament. Sin we entered in some parish whose church keeps the saint reserves, the first attention of my holy mate was to return himself of it to adore the Eucharist. After having done the homage of his/her/its worships and his/her/its piety to the God of the tabernacles, Pascal presented himself/itself to the vicar to ask him humbly for the permission to collect in the parish…
'' '
IV
Our Blessed's virtue, in particular his/her/its patience and his/her/its humility, was often submitted to hard tests by his/her/its new superior, as makes faith of it the former biographers. But, while eating the Bread of the Strong, he/it found an energy so powerful that every time, he/it came out of the crucible the more brilliant soul of the divine splendors. It is what one notes at Pascal to the return of his/her/its journey in France of which we will speak soon. The obedience sent it then to the Convent of Almansa or it put the last hand to the work of his/her/its seraphic perfection.

His/her/its piety was founded on an unshakable faith that never bends under any test. She/it went crossing admirably from day to day.

The devout pictures excited at our Saint a big devotion, he/it passed before the picture of Our Lord or his/her/its holy Mother, he/it made a deep genuflexion, even upon his/her/its return of the quest whereas tired he/it bent under the besace. All ceremonies of the church formed for the religious pickets of the hours of rejoicing, he/it got ready of it with devotion and attended there with joy. Before entering to the church, he/it collected himself/itself; about to take some, the joined or tense hands toward his/her/its Jesus' jail, he/it looked at fixément the tabernacle.

His/her/its biographers tell us that, the holy Thursday, the lover of the Eucharist prolonged his worships during five or six hours. He/it seemed a statue been in ecstasies in a long prostration to the feet of the Divine Host. But the Corpus Christi caused more, at Pascal, again these seraphic transportation that revealed his/her/its union with the Good - Beloved.

To the rest, our Saint's mystical union was if perfected that in all place, it knew to ask, to meditate and to converse with his/her/its Lord, as if it was close to the tabernacle. The refectory was for it like an antechamber of the Paradise. Bread and the wine that he/it had under the eyes, constantly recalled him the Banquet Eucharistique; his/her/its heart and his/her/its thought were far from the material table, what he/it was seated close to the: they had turned toward Jesus-Host. How many times his/her/its brothers turn it, when he/it pulled vegetables of the vegetable garden or spaded the earth, to stop sudden delighted in a soft vision! When he/it distributed bread to the religious, to table, that of time also, lives it to us one not to rise of earth, taken away in the contemplation!

The place preferred of Pascal was the church the choir, or it came to kneel as soon as his/her/its occupations let him some leisures. One returns that if he/it presented himself/itself at the Convent some host to which it was impossible to find a lodging. Pascal offered him incontinent his/her/its cell, while, happy, he left to spend the night so much to the heart in company his/her/its Lord beloved.

Would one dare to believe it? In spite of one life all of humility, charity, mortification and ardent love; in spite of a daily confession and an intimate union with God, his/her/its respect of the Divine Eucharist was so big that it didn't steal to approach too frequently of the saint counts. His/her/its humility was defeated however and became l' slave of his/her/its love. Then our Saint stopped being a man: he/it was a Seraph, regular in the Banquet Eucharistique. After the communion, Pascal could not always keep his/her/its tears; often he/it retired to hide from his/her/its brothers the ardor of his/her/its love.
V
Friend of Jesus, Pascal could not be the friend of Marie and God's poor people.

This is not Marie who, whereas him was young shepherd, him to have encouraged by his/her/its maternal visits and was constituted itself his/her/its spiritual mistress in the countries of Aragon? did He always have corresponded faithfully to his/her/its generosities. Now that he/it had become Franciscan, he/it considered like a duty and a honor to venerate it and to defend the privilege of his/her/its Immaculate Conception.

And Marie who doesn't let itself defeat ever in generosity by his/her/its servants, continued to protect it and to attend it in his/her/its cult the holy Sacrament.

To his/her/its plain prayers, Pascal had added the practice of the Rosary of Our Lord that he recited several times the day. Let's hear to tell it to a brother the origin of this devotion: '' The Rosary or Psalter of our very soft Jesus, was taught to a religious that meditated on the Rosary of the Queen of the sky, this privileged lives the Virgin to solicit for him of his/her/its Son, a special grace, the Divine Mr. answered to his/her/its Immaculate Mother that the religious had to plait Him a crown of invocations, while substituting Ave Jesu benignissime '' Hello very soft Jesus '' to the Ave Maria, and the Paternoster to the angelic greeting ''. It is easy to guess that the religious pickets encouraged of this revelation are our Saint himself as think most authors, but that he/it wanted, in his/her/its humility, to conceal itself/themselves under anonymity.

VI
The love of which consumed itself of Seraph of the Eucharist was so big that it was not sufficient to him, as to the Seraphic Father holy François, to express itself/themselves in songs of praise and recognition. It was necessary to spill in the exercise of the charity towards the neighbor. It is why we find the big surrounded d e Jesus-Host friend, always and everywhere, of other friends of the Divine Savior and his/her/its dearest, our brothers the poor people.

lci again the horizon is too vast so that it is allowed us to enter freely in the details of history. Forces is us to give a brief preview.

The charity of Pascal Baylon for the poor people had its source in his/her/its piety eucharistique, and this charity was illuminated and ardent as at all big saints, as at François saint of foundation in particular, the in love Poverello, the Patriarch of the poor people.

Pascal liked the poor people because he saw incarnate in them another Christ and by continuation they were to his/her/its eyes, a new Eucharist! It is for this motive that he/it put an attention and a gentleness move to prepare them food and was not able to limited his/her/its generosity in their place.

So much time he/it had resort to the miracle to relieve the bodily or spiritual miseries of those that called on his/her/its charity!

Let's mention one only of this numerous most instructive miracles, seem me him, and most known.

Whereas brother Pascal stayed to the Convent of Valencia (or he resided several times) he was satisfied very of his/her/its jobs of porter and spendthrift: they allowed him to make generosities to his/her/its dear poor people. However he/it arrived one day that the brothers collection takers had collected a quantity of sufficient bread for two days. The following day, Pascal came to warn them that the provision was exhausted and that it faillait to be going to collect other bread for the community. Is this possible, does say one of the collection takers astonished? We begged some yesterday a provision sufficient pure two days. Him right certainly to remain again some. On that, he/it runs to the refectory, look for everywhere but impossible of finds the smallest piece of bread, a few vexed of his/her/its setback he/it heads toward the porterie or he/it finds the good brother Pascal distributing the peace abundantly to the poor people, '' has therefore or go the whole fruit of our quest, exclaim the religious then! Brother Pascal, come with me! '' and taking the basket of bread, he/it heads follow-up of the humble porter, at the Guardian Father in order to tell him the fact.

The superior, man of big wisdom, who appreciated strong the virtues of the charitable brother, being content with telling the annoyed collection taker,: '' That there I can make myself, so Pascal is a saint? ''

Our Blessed had followed with joy his/her/its accuser, dull the hope to find a humiliation, but before similar contract, he was surprised more than before the greenest reprimand; and taking his/her/its basket, he/it disappeared hastily.

God himself had assigned to justify his/her/its Servant's charity towards the poor people. Between Pascal's hands, as between the hands of the Apostles in the time of Jesus, bread increased so stupendously that it is not only sufficient for the poor people ran to the door of the Convent, but for the Community, witness touched of an incontestable prodigy.

Our Saint's charity was not only ardent and generous May it was also illuminated and sage, While distributing the material bread to the starved, it broke them the bread of God's speech, and inflamed the souls of love for Jesus - Host.

This apostolate us bitter to speak briefly of another aspect of the devotion of saint Pascal Baylon towards the mystery of the Eucharist: his/her/its goodwill for the defense of the Jesus-Host glory and for the diffusion of his/her/its cult.

IV CHAPTER

The apostle of the Eucharist

Saint Pascal Baylon could not contain, in a selfish enjoyment, his/her/its flame of love for the God of the tabernacles. This divine fire was at a time his/her/its joy and his/her/its tourment`il felt an imperious need to communicate some some sparkles to the neighbor

Seraph of the Eucharist, our Saint had to infallibly become the apostle of it as his/her/its words, his/her/its writings and his/her/its whole life reveal it to us.

1
Saint Pascal didn't let escape an opportunity ever to speak of his/her/its big Love. As the artist, passionate for his/her/its ideal to which he/it reports all, of which he/it constantly speaks, ' qu he/it likes an exclusive love, so holy Pascal always managed in his/her/its conversations to approach the topic that intoxicated his/her/its mind of joy and made beat his/her/its heart of enthusiasm.

We know how in one journey he/it maintained his/its mate, of speech full of the love of God and the return that we must return he. We will add, because all biographers affirm it, that often of the travelers while walking with our Saint, heard words of fire of the humble brother and forgot in his/her/its company the length of the paths, the hours and the fatigues of the journey. Without his/her/its cloister, Pascal exercised towards the poor people his/her/its apostolate of light and love that him before begun among the mates of his/her/its shepherd's life.

But it is especially at his/her/its brothers that he/it poured the overflow of his/her/its love, while telling to them or plu^to while singing them the excellence, the glory and the fertility of the Mystery of the Eucharist. In 1576 more again whereas he/it was named master of the beginners in the Convent of Almansa, he/it didn't hold some anymore of joy; did he/it have young, simple and enthusiastic souls to form according to his/her/its ideal of life eucharistique, while thinking of the sublime lessons of this humble brother passed main in mystical science no after having studied in the human books but after having drawn to the divine wisdom, who would not like to have been of the number of these lucky listeners delighted of the speeches of the apostle of the eucharistie?

Named superior repeatedly, he/it used the authority that to stimulate s his/her/its topics to progress in the virtue, the goodwill of the regular observance and especially to promote the cult of faith and love to Jesus-Host

Become again simple topic, his/her/its Guard gave him the order, one day, to preach before the community in preparation to the feast of Christmas. To say it of the columnists that is with a divine wisdom and a celestial unction that he/it commented the prophecies of the incarnation of the Verb and explain the genealogy of l ' Man-God.

But I can only suppose in this opportunity he/it forgot to speak of the Eucharist incarnation of The one that, after being made itself/themselves Man to be closer to us, is constituted itself bread to be born every day in our cœurses and to become the food of our souls.
11
For simple that she/it was, Pascal's oratory operated prodigies of transformations spiritual and converted to the Lord a big number of fishers.

Let's recall a fact borrowed to the suit of Canonization

Pascal accompanied, one day, a famous preacher, the Father Bartholomew Pasteur, in one his/her/its apostolic shoppings. Come in the evening, the two travelers asked for the hospitality to one the firm that edged the path, the master received them amiably and began to prepare them the supper.

Pascal observed his/her/its host of a look filled of compassion because the Lord had revealed to him that this man had committed a deadly sin lasted the day, the Saint stood some deeply, could not contain his/her/its c pain, he tells him with goodness: ' ' ' My brother, here it is that God deputized you his/her/its ministers; why don't you take advantage of his/her/its pure arrival to purify your soul by a good confession? Who has the hour or will you die? It is necessary to be held always ready therefore better! ' '

But the host would stay insensible to the exhortation, Pascal continued the invitation with so much process as the father Bartholomew tells to him: ‘' I fear, brother, that you end up bothering our host and to show evidence of bad education. ' '

This remark doesn't cool our Saint's goodwill. He/it continued, while probably praying, to implore this Christian to hear his/her/its opinion by love for Jesus-Host. God's grace made the rest. The host knelt to the feet of the Father Bartholomew while declaring to him; ‘' It is necessary that I confess, because I am assured that God revealed was of my soul to the brother Pascal. I am also assured that, by his/her/its merits, I will get the forgiveness of my sin. ' '
111
The best opportunity for Pascal to demonstrate and to defend his/her/its faith and his/her/its love towards Jesus-Host, was then his/her/its journey in France full of Calvinist and Lutheran heretics, when his/her/its superior charged it of a mission, he/it seems to have made this journey in 1576.

Having to send a very important letter to the General of the order, Christophe of Chief Fontaines then in Paris, the Provincial of Spain had thrown the eyes on our Blessed. He/it knew the courage of the humble brother and knew it capable how to surmount the multiple obstacles for the success of the mission confided. Pascal appeared ready to accomplish on the field this heroic act of obedience. Happy he immediately left on foot, without provision, without preoccupation of the difficulties and the perils of the road. Beyond the Pyrenees, he/it asks for the hospitality in the first Franciscan convent that he/it met in French earth. The religious believed to dissuade it to pursue a journey so dangerous that nearly drove infallibly it to the death. Anxious to provide to give his/her/its pure life the Christ, Pascal didn't want have hear their reasons. Us only he/it refused to come back on his/her/its steps but he/it didn't want to exchange his/her/its Franciscan dress against the secular dress that would have allowed him to travel with more of security.

Pascal was soon in mound to the injuries and to the persecutions of the heretics too happy to meet popish u in order to discharged on him their hate against the Pope and against Rome, they threw him some stones, hit it to stroke of stick, threw on him of the sludge and the dust and pursued it of village in village without consideration for his/her/its extreme fatigue. One day, their attacks were so violent that struck by a Pascal stone fell on soil, inanimate, but the angels watched over him and his/her/its executioners moved away without daring reaches to his/her/its life, come back to him, Pascal continued the ascension of his/her/its Calvary, however the stroke had been so violent that the religious saint stood some until his/her/its death and carried of it a glorious scar, This injury recalled him the wage made to the Savior's shoulder by the heavy cross, the suffering of his/her/its body was for its soul causes it of a big joy and a seraphic rejoicing.

This is how our Saint arrived in Orleans, The injuries and the strokes imported him little because he answered the faith and the devotion everywhere towards the Sacrament of love and accomplished his/her/its humble but efficient apostolate of prayers, humility and forgiveness of the injuries.

IV
A historian observes exactly while returning this journey that it is rightfully that Léon XVII declared holy Pascal boss of the œuvres eucharistiques. Our Saint's journey in France was a heroic profession of faith to the very holy Sacrament. He/it is very likely even that the mission committed to Pascal saint was about threats of the heresy and perils serious of the faith eucharistique that France ran. To the rest, Pascal was sent to warm by the speech and by the example, the cult of Jesus-Host whose real presence was fought so briskly by the heretical fanaticism.

Saint Pascal cannot frequently eat the Bread of the strong during his/her/its journey, and so to draw in God his/her/its heroism. But is not - him not to believe that more of once, as when he/it kept his/its herd, the angels appeared to him in the lone countries to make adore him the beaming ostensory while the spiritual communion united it to his/her/its Jesus - Host.

This is how he/it could triumph over all his/her/its enemies and could always surmount the obstacles more numerous.

If his/her/its humility prevented history of in registrer the tribulations of this journey, some of his/her/its brothers succeeded in knowing a part of the struggles that it sustained.

One day, on the road of Orleans or he/it stretches the hand to satiate his/her/its hunger, some heretics land it with insidious questions on Jesus' real presence to the holy Sacrament. To his/her/its clear and firm answers, emanating a sublime faith, the heretical populace loses patience and throw himself on it to stone it. Himself believer close to pick the palm of the martyrdom, Pascal is delighted in his heart. But such are not god's intentions on him and only one stone reaches it pure to wound it slightly.

A short time after, he/it is threatened again in the house of a Lutheran, for the same motives, The apostles of the Eucharist waits the death with courage. But his/her/its face, exalted of the splendors of a divine rejoicing, reflects such a happiness that his/her/its amazed and confused executioners, return him the liberty.

Around the same city, one day that he/it walks in the middle of the abuses of the populace, an unknown lands knows it traveler, the treats roughly and drags it to his/her/its continuation to contain it in a pigsty, in this fetid reduced, Pascal only forgets fatigue and the hunger and dream to the crown of the martyrdom that he believes all near, with the dawn of the following day the illusion vanishes, his/her/its jailer had only locked it to subtract it to the people's fanaticism that wanted to make die him in. After having offered him some food, he/it put back his/its prisoner in liberty.

Here is another episode of this journey of which one knows so few details.

Pascal meeting one day, by a desolate road, a very armed knight, at the sight of the humble Franciscan, he/it stops and interrogate it with arrogance, '' Brother, does he/it tell it, God is he/it at the sky? '' '' Certainly '' - Pascal répons whose ingenuousness had not let itself intimidate by the insidious demand. Satisfied, the warrior continued his/her/its road letting our Saint stunned of this sudden questioning, garaged of the surprise, Pascal understood that this rider was a Calvinist that had tempted it. If he/it had answered: '' God is t in the sky and in the sacrament of the altar '' his/her/its interlocutor would certainly have hit it of his/her/its spear. '' Alas! he/it exclaimed no, without spilling the tears, to the memory of this incident, Alas! I had believed to answer well! Oh! These are my sins that stopped me from seizing the opportunity to die for my Lord Jesus Christ. I didn't deserve the grace of the martyrdom ''!

V
We can believe with reason that the sky had ordered it thus so that our saint continued to fill his/her/its long apostolate of Christian and Franciscan virtues and especially so that he propagated the cult of the divine Eucharist that he would have affirmed by one thousand deaths.

We already know something of it, It will be sufficient to return what arrived to Villareale, last theater of his/her/its apostolate, but most glorious.

So much examples of the sanctity have - t he/it doesn't make radiate in his/her/its convent and in the neighboring region! So much poor he/it comforted, that he/it converted sinners! So much just he/it strengthened in the ways of the piety! So much miracles he/it doesn't have operated to relieve the miseries of his/her/its brothers!.

But or did this humble brother draw him the necessary energy, the miraculous power and the divine grace to accomplish so much good? By the author of all grace, by hidden Jesus in the tabernacle. It is why one can affirm that he/it never addressed a prayer to the spouse of his/her/its soul without being granted expeditiously.

And always Pascal progressed in his/her/its devotion in love and his/her/its apostolic goodwill for the Eucharist dilated itself.

A Spanish of my friends of which stretching devotion for our Saint inspired me these pages, told to me as in Villareale or rest the remains bénjs of Pascal saint, are even living among the supporters of the devotion practices to Jesus-Host inspired by the Saint of the Eucharist. These devout convenient testify his/her/its constant solicitude to spill the cult of the God of the Tabernacles.

It was he that introduced everywhere or he/it passed, the custom to discover itself/themselves and to kneel when to the Mass one sounds to announce the consecration and the elevation of the Saint Host, or to put some lamps in the windows of the houses in the streets or must pass the procession of the Money carried to the patients.

I already said that Pascal didn't limit his apostolate eucharistique to the speech and to the example. Indeed he had resort to the feather.

I don't have the intention to start here the question of authenticity of the works already assigned to our Saint published by the P. Sala. I will only say the agreement of his/her/its biographers to show us in the humble brother the innate stage that allowed him to speak and of exclaims with so much depth on the most sublime mysteries of our faith without having studied ever in the books. His/her/its writings, even when the historic critique often seduced them to a simple compilation of sentences and thoughts borrowed, are sufficient amply to reveal us his/her/its deep knowledge of the mystery of the Eucharist.

While reading these writings one persuades itself more that Jesus-Host was the center and the home of his/her/its life inside, the big passion of his/her/its heart inflamed, the secret and the strength of his/her/its apostolate.

VI
He/it is time to conclude this brief historic preview of the life of the Boss of the Œuvres Eucharistiqueses. Let's contemplate the calmness bedtime of this holiness sun quickly on the horizon of one life that he/it had illuminated quick splendors of his/her/its faith and his/her/its love towards Jesus-Host.

It is as the last rays of the marvelous light, that escape of a star. She/it doesn't resign herself/itself to die out in the firmament if it is not to shine an imperishable burst in the paradise of the eternity.

One day or our Saint served the Mass in the church of the Convent of Villareale, one lives his/her/its face to be resplendent of a joy unaccustomed. Pascal felt his soul full of celestial transportation. It is that Jesus - Host had condescended to reveal to his/her/its faithful Servant approaches it of the hour or it would be delivered of the exile and would enjoy the union blissful of the sky, supreme dream of his/her/its soul.

Since this moment, our Blessed seemed only a pilgrim exiled on the earth; one would have said an elected of the glory so much were big the rejoicing and the peace of which overabounded his/her/its soul. One lives it, to the big astonishment of the citizens of Villareale, to go from house to house to greet his/her/its friends and is benefactors, to make them a last adieu because, he/it said, he/it had to undertake the big journey of the eternity.

One morning at dawn at the time of ouvrire the doors of the church, Pascal s e didn't smell like strength to rise of his/her/its debris. The pain made rapids progress, Pascal asks his brothers then for the favor to receive the last sacraments. It is easy to imagine the feelings of faith, worship, recognition and love that made beat the heart God Saint of the Eucharist when Jesus-Host entered in the small cell to reinforce his/her/its friend and in these supreme moments.

He/it lived until the following day morning while conversing deliciously with Jesus and Mayor. To the dawn of May 17, 1592, feast of the Pentecost, he/it asked if the conventual Mass was already begun. On the negative answer of the brothers he/it will continue: '' I would like the knowledge because the bell that will sound the Mass, will announce the hour of my delivery..!

Indeed, to the moment or the bell announced to the supporters the consecration and the offering to the Celestial Father of the divine Victim immolated every day for the redemption of the world in the sacrifice eucharistique, Pascal unites to the Christ's immolation, repeated by two times Jesus' soft name and returned his/her/its soul to God in an ecstasy of love.

VII
His/her/its death marked the beginning d,une set of new prodigies that confirmed at the people the renown of holiness of the big apostle of the Eucharist and the friend of the poor people. The most known of these miracles is the one that demonstrated, until in the tomb, Pascal's devotion in Jesus-Host verses.

During funeral ceremony celebrated in presence of the remains of the Saint exposed in the Franciscan church, the introverted and happy crowd lives Pascal to enliven, to open the eyes and to fix them on the white host and the vivid chalice that the priest presented to the worship of the supporters. The following day owing an even more considerable crowd the miracle occurred again in the same circumstances as to confirm the event of the vielle.

We could also speak of the mysterious strokes left of the relics or the Saint's pictures to warn a few negligence in the cult of the Eucharist.

To the rest, a lot of other miracles, told in the suit of beatification (1618) and of canonization (1680) of our Saint, were operated again by the distinguished thaumaturge of Villareale. All these prodigies affirm that Predestined to him, the Seraph, and the apostle of 'Eucharist, of the earth, already enjoys and for the centuries, of the reward promised to his/her/its faith, to his/her/its love, to his/her/its liliale purity and to his/her/its deep humility. He/it shares in the sky the glory and the beatitude of the angels and saints.

V chapter
The Eucharist and us
1
To seduce some convenient findings in corollaries of this historic sketch will be easy thing (1). Us readers will be assured henceforth that it is understandably that the big pope Léon XIII, of saint memory, elected and declared Boss of all OUErvres Eucharistiqueses the humble brother of Torre Hermonsa, Pascals Baylon. Saint Pascal embodied in him the Christian and Franciscan traditions of the previous centuries touch the cult of Jesus-Host and preceded several shapes of the devotion eucharistique of the future ages.

It is therefore a duty for all lovers of the Eucharist, it is - to say for all supporters, to know better in order to like the biggest Seraph of the host of our tabernacles more, and to get in full to imitate his/her/its beautiful examples of faith and love.

But to reach this result, it is necessary to be convinced like Pascal saint and like all heroes of the Christian life, apostles, martyrs, virgins, confessors, fathers of the church, that the Eucharist is for Jesus him heaped of his/her/its infinite goodness and for us a light source, by force and of grace. Then, and then only, we will surround this sacrament of a deep cult of worship, recognition and love.

(1) the readers will understand easily that the character of the present work, even in this last chapter, demand that we limited ourselves to a very brief exposition of our duties towards the Eucharist.

11
All apologists agree to affirm that, in the Eucharist, our Divine Savior fills the triple aspiration of the human heart: the love calls the presence, the union and the of the sacrifice.

Is not - him not true that we would like to have always by us the beings that we like? Don't we want constantly to see them of our eyes, to touch them of our houses, to hear their voice and to enjoy their company? Indeed, the remoteness or the absence of a beloved child, of a beloved mother, disturb us, preoccupy us, made us pain, the death of our parents and our friends is the biggest pain since it marks a supreme separation.

It is this need to be in the middle of us that our Divine savior felt. The spouse, the friend, the father of our souls. For this motive, he/it descended of the sky; but the short years of his/her/its stay among the children of the men were not sufficient to appease the evening of his/her/its Cœur liking: he/it asked for immortality, the permanence of the love.

And now in his/her/its wisdom and in his/her/its goodness infinite, Jesus found means, by the divine Eucharist, to stay forever in the middle of us, behind the small door gilt of his/her/its Tabernacle, in all place He multiplies his/its presence under the cash sacramental. Of the solitude of his/her/its tabernacle, as the top of the hills of Galilee, He/it has his/its soft invitation heard: '' Come to me you all that are afflicted and I will comfort you ''. besides he/it had promised his/its aid the apostles; '' since twenty centuries, he/it kept word gorgeously: '' Vobiscum ero usque ad consummationem soeculi: I will be with you until the consumption of the centuries ''.

L.Eucharistie is indeed a mystery of love.

111
But it is not sufficient to the real love that calls the sacrifice for those that we like. What father, what mother, worthy of this name, doesn't impose herself/itself the renouncements, the deprivations and the sacrifices, gladly and is not ready to give their life for the children that the love generated them?

In Jesus he/it is not a lot more that a father and that a mother for each of us? It is why of the manger to the cross, he/it was haunted of the desire to sacrifice itself/themselves for the sons of the Redemption. He/it told it to his/her/its friends when these were not able to again understand it: '' Me desire to be baptized of a blood baptism; I wanted this hour ardently ''.

We know how his/her/its desire became reality, one day, Jesus was captured by those that he had filled kindness, drives to Mount Calvary in the middle of the bad treatments more nailed to the cross or He offered the sacrifice of his/her/its life voluntarily. Could he/it make more to show us the ardor of his/her/its love? Definitely no if he/it had been a man; but He/it was Son of God. In his/her/its all power and of his/her/its infinite goodness, he/it wanted to revive every day, for himself offrire in holocaust. And this mystery operates itself to every instant of the day on our altars. Who doesn't know, indeed, that the sacrifice of Mount Calvary repeats itself the whole day in a non bloody manner in the holy Mass in all place or does a Catholic priest dedicate a little bread and of wine and offer the Immaculate Victim to the Father's justice, in atonement of our sins?

The Eucharist is not - her not a sacrifice of love?

IV
The human heart conceals another aspiration again. The love is not content with staying with the beloved person and to sacrifice itself/themselves for it, but it wants to unite intimately to it. Let's recall the mother's example that represents the most beautiful conception of the pure, tender and generous love; let's observe it that caresses his/her/its child; she/it kisses it on the eyes, on the lips, on the whole face and the is urgent on his/her/its heart with so much ardor as she/it seems to want to train one being only with the object of his/her/its love.

Indeed, the union, the unit and the fusion of the cœurses and souls is not - it not the supreme dream of the love? If this dream stays ideal for the man, God's Son made to some, there are twenty centuries, a luminous reality.

By the communion, Jesus unites to the most intimate of our being, descends in our soul and becomes the center of our existence. Some being beats in unison at his/her/its heart. His/her/its flesh becomes the food of our âme`son extinct divine blood the ardors of our blood; our poor life is as absorbed in his. In these moments of the sky or Jesus is us of it, we could exclaim with Paul saint; '' Us, it is not anymore I that live, but it is the Christ that life in me ''!

The Eucharist is a sacrament of love!

These thoughts we find them all in the writings of Pascal saint expressed Baylons with a kissed charity that shows us the ardor of which his/her/its heart was filled for the Chief-D'œuvre of God's love well.

V
If the Eucharist is the highest demonstration of his/her/its infinite goodness, she stays for us, as we told it, a light source, by force, and of grace.

Who among the disciples of the gospel ignores that the Tabernacle is the divine home that of his/her/its marvelous splendors fattening pond the souls in darkness of life. Who can ignore that some Tabernacle emanates a mysterious power, capable to raise the minds toward the celestial regions, ' jusqu to make reach them Christian highest summits of the holiness and the heroism?

Voltaire himself, maybe in one moment of nostalgia of the spiritual, was jusqu to write the The Eucharist: ' ' It was impossible to imagine a mystery that excited the men more mightily in the virtue ' '. A deep Christian thinker wrote in his apologetic works: ‘' The Protestantism, while rejecting the faith to the miracle of God's infinite charity in the Eucharist, dried up the source of all miracles of the heart. It is her that produces the sublime thoughts of the mind and the heroic sacrifices of the heart ‘'!

Everything that of beautiful has, of pure, of big, of sublime and of saint dan the world of the souls and in the history of intelligences, everything of which boasts the humanity, origin of the marvelous enters of spiritual life, the Tabernacle. It would be necessary to have the unction of the author of Christ's imitation to sing this consoling mystery and the effects worthily that product in the souls this Bread that fortifies the martyrs and makes germinate the virgins!

But remind to the sons of our XXè century that the sacrament of the altar, the Banquet Eucharistique, the Flesh and the Blood of God's Son, can carry the same fruits that they produced at the Christian of the catacombs again nowadays and in the soul of our saints.

The old, he/it seems, believed that the shells perlières went up, the morning, of the bottom of the sea to the surface of waters, and opening their iridescent valve over to the of the waves collected a dewdrop, they descended then among the navy herbs to form the pearls.

This is how should make all faithful. So, every morning, he/it received in his/its heart the divine Eucharist, he/it would see to fall on the invisible wounds of his/her/its soul, the beneficent dew of the divine grace coming down from a starry and resplendent sky and would accumulate dan his/her/its heart an infinite treasure. If he/it got damaged then in the gloomy and agitated sea of the world, with this God, with this divine rain drop of which he/it drank, he/it would shape the germs of the most beautiful and the sweetest virtues; to help this these pearls and of these treasures, he/it would purchase the lost world.

But the divine Eucharist is not only a source of moral perfection for the individuals she is again a tie of peace and union for the families and for the society. Jesus told it in the gospel, at the time of the institution of the divine Banquet: ' ' Father, make that all my dear apostles and disciples are united closely between them, consumed in the unit,: Paternoster, rogo you ut unum sint… ut sint consummati in unum ' '!

‘' The Sacrament of the altar and the family, exclaim the Prof, Olivi, in the Convention Eucharistique of Orvieto of 1896, what concert of saints harmonies ' '! A congressional lecturer Eucharistique of Rome of 1919 placed the family boldly to the number of the institutions eucharistiques because to the apostolic times the family was ' ' the first temple and by continuation the first sanctuary ' eucharistique, or, in the most intimate place and the pus withdrawn from the house kept the living God, supreme comfort for the martyrdom.

Oh! What concord, what peace, what serenity, what joy in our Christian families who live a life intense eucharistique | Each knows some of these families of it and no one can deny that these homes whose members have the devout habit to approach of the divine Banquet are indeed worthy of admiration and desire!

What would our social life be if the people, if all populate even, did become worshippers of Jesus-Host and looked for, in his/her/its Mystery of love, the secret of their moral reform?

Be assured that our society has need to return to God to surmount the agonizing crisis that threatens to undermine his/her/its foundations, it is necessary to purify the consciences, to renovate the souls, to renew the roborant energies of faith, love and divine life if one wants to free the man of these vile instincts that one developed t of the years of war and pride whereas most beautiful regions of Europe were flooded of blood.

No means are more efficient than to agitate the torch of The Eucharist in the souls, to implore for those that don't believe in the God of our tabernacles, to like and to adore for them the King of love and the Prince of the peace, if one wants the purification of the cœurses and the pacification of the minds so deeply divided between the nations.

It is to this special end that Benoît XV wanted to hold the XXVI Convention international Eucharistique. The SS. XI magpie, heir of his/her/its mind, held the same conduct. That the vœux and the prayers of the Christ's Priest are granted, and Europe and the world will be saved once again.
VI
While walking on the traces of our dear Parton of the Œuvres Eucharistiqueses, each must take a resolution: To believe more briskly in Jesus-Host and to like the God of our tabernacles more ardently.

.. Oh! Yes, let's believe, I would exclaim with saint Jean Chrysostome! Let's not resist God who has speak, even though our passions and our senses want to shout to the absurd! His/her/its words cannot deceive while us, we are subject to wander. As soon as Him, the Divine Mr., the infallible truth said; ' ' it is my body, it is my blood ' ' that all negation, all hesitation, all doubt disappears! Let's contemplate this Mystery of the eyes of the mind and let's believe to the truthful testimony of the church ' '!

Let's believe in the foundation of our religion, to the chief-d'œuvre of the Christ's love, to the pledge of our hope, let's adore it, let's sing it. But we don't flatter to return to the divine Eucharist a worthy tribute of praise, because, as well as warns us holy Thomas of it, this mystery is superior to all praise Regimental adjutant is enim omni laude. We can contain the eucharistie in sparkling tabernacles of gold and gems; we can raise in his/her/its honor of the temples of stone and marble that begins him a psalm without end; we can unite to study his/her/its marvels, of the conventions what have their splendid coronation in a triumphal procession, But our praise to Jesus-Host will always be inadequate!.

The most convenient means for us to celebrate as he/it agrees this big Mystery is to submit him our intelligence our heart and our will; to consolidate our faith while liking; to like while believing that the holy Eucharist is the most magnificent monument of the power and God's goodness.
VII
Let's like, the God of love Prisoner of our tabernacles; finally go to Him to comfort it, to ask it, to solicit his/her/its goodness graces and blessings,; he/it is not our Mr., our Benefactor, our Friend, our Physician, our lawyer, our Judge,. How could he/it see us to his/her/its feet without looking at us with tenderness, without us illuminates, to encourage us, to defend us and to fill us with his/her/its kindness?

Let's like the God of love, Victim for our sins, who renews his/her/its passion and his/her/its martyrdom, every day on our altars. Frequently attend the holy sacrifice of the Mass, non bloody reproduction of the tragedy of the Golgotha,; let's help there with the faith and the piety of the devout women, of Jean saint, the beloved disciple and of Marie, the Queen of the Martyrdoms, let's recall ourselves that less the sacrifice of God's Son increases in the Christian world, more the human sacrifice triumphs. There or falls the cross, one ruins the altar, one desecrates the sanctuaire;là or rest to sink the Christ's blood, the man must be attached to the gibbet, because, if the man doesn't intoxicate himself/itself of the blood of the divine Victim, he is devoured of an ardent thirst, tormented of disorganized appetites, dominated by the passions as far as wanting the death and the blood of his/her/its similar.

Let's like the god of love who is made itself our food and our beverage in the Banquet of the Eucharist. are Going to eat his/her/its divine Flesh, to water us his/her/its divine Blood. This Flesh and of this Blood will be for us the source of energies that will make us surmount the temptations, will give us the strength of the big sacrifices and the heroic virtues and will deposit in our being a germ of life. One day, beautiful and immortal, we will shake the dust of our tombs: this germ marvelous of the divine Eucharist will have developed itself in the tomb. Us emaciated bone and our scattered dust will have heard an echo of the voice of the Mr. that said: '' The one that eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood will have the eternal life! I am the resurrection and life..!

VIII
The faith, the worship and the love towards the God of our tabernacles are not sufficient. It is necessary to be apostle of the cult eucharistique.

Is not - this not this example that gave us holy Pascal Baylon, following François of foundation and the other magnets of the sacret of the altar? Since Tharcisius saint who, at the cost of his/her/its life defended the adorable Eucharist against the hate of the pagans; since Augustin saint didn't who sing the marvels of it in presence of the astonished heretics, since Paul saint who affirmed this dogma da solemnly his/her/its epistles to the big scandal of the Jews and pagans, this is not always the same miracle who he renews?

How a heart scorched of the divine flame of the Jesus-Host love, cannot he/it feel a need of apostolate?

The shapes of the apostolate eucharistique are varied very because the goodwill for the Divine Prisoner drifts of the love and doesn't cut down in the limits of a fixed program: him himself food to the source of a heart saintly anxious to glorify to all price the object of his/her/its love.

It is not here the place to enumerate the multiple means accessible to 'zealous soul for the diffusion of the Jesus-Host cult, nor to speak of the various practices. L 'associations, unions, brotherliness or devout works, that have for end to promote the faith, the love and the worship always more to the God of our tabernacles. The readers will be able to resort with profit to special treaties.

That he/it took the liberty to mention the work of the Convention Eucharistiqueses. What brilliant foundation that the one that intends to return to Jesus-Host a public, solemn and triumphal homage, and to cause always in the souls a devotion bigger towards the Mystery of the Eucharist!

If the XIX century is called the century Œuvres Eucharistiques the XX will be the one of the Triumph Eucharistiqueses, as expressed it well a scholarly apologist.

This is not in the Convention Eucharistiqueses that get ready the triumphs? Certainly, they won't be sterile these august assemblies, if those that there takes part, return themselves of it blazing enough of devotion pure eucharistique to illuminate the intelligences of the torch of our faith and Jesus-Host and to inflame the cœurses of a sincere love towards the Mystery, the Sacrifice and the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

In top the heart! Let's carry high well our white banner on which spreads out the Divine Eucharist, symbol of life, joy and peace for all peoples!

Oh my God, make that your Reign Eucharistique arrives soon!

Adveniat Reguum Euchairstcum tuum! End
