One hermit missionary h/f, is simply like a rose that
opens his/her/its petals that return thanks to God to give
him one day besides to rent it, bus some choice the side or

his/her/its wishes, his/her/its total grant to God, because
she/it doesn't have any limit, like a rose that embalms l'

Birth of Family in the Hundred Foyers/Solitudes-Saint-François.Pours
well to speak of this flourishing work, it is necessary
to mention his/her/its creator and his/her/its colleagues
first. The Father Marius Lessard has been ordered
priest June 19, 1955. Shortly after, he/it dedicated
himself/itself at the ministry of the predication.
To the fall of 1959, he/it took to a precise mission
like helper of the Father Léon-Pascal Leblanc, regional
commissioner of the Third party - Franciscan Order
(named later Secular Franciscan Order where (o.f.s.)
of Three Rivers, to which was connected the region
of Nicolet. Some fraternities had already instituted
groups of cordigères (6-14 years), future Secular
Franciscans. To attend the fraternities, the formation
of the young cordigères, the P.Marius proposed to
the fraternities to organize camps of summer. However,
it occurs that in Saint's parish - Elphège was a
camp of Jeannettes (Girls girl scouts). Some understandings
were made with the Jeannetteses to group the cordigères
at home, in free periods at the end of the summer.
During two years, the project was achieved, the
cordigères came from different places, what included
some inconvénients.Le Father Mariuses had the happy
fortune to meet Mr. René Courchesne, president of
the fraternity of the Third Order of Saint-François-Of-Lake.
This last, put informed of the project of summer
camps for the cordigères, offered to the Father
Marius his/her/its house and his/her/its farm in
return for the repayment of a debt worth eight miles
dollars. Capable to accept this grant to personal
title, the Father Marius suggested the foundation
of a non-profit corporation in accordance with the
third part of the law of the companies of Quebec.
It is whereas is formed itself the temporary advice
that made the first steps by the provincial government
in order to get the charter of incorporation of
a new company that one named "Family To the Hundred
Home Inc".
This incorporation took place February 5, 1963.
A document transcribes home to the hand in a set

of Quebec, Mr. Raymond Douville, said that according

in corporation the following people to know: Jacqueline
Ledoux, nurse, Claire Léveillé, secretary, major

members. The so-called corporation is allowed to
acquire and possèder until the value worth two hundred
thousand dollars. Are named temporary directors
of the corporation the plaintiffs knew named. On

the Province of Quebec, with for witness the honorable
Paul Comtois, lieutenant-governor represented by
M. Jacques Prémont. Given in the Government's hotel,
February 5, 1963. Registered February 28, 1963 by

directors was held April 7, 1963. Were present:
Mlles Jacqueline Adam and Claire Léveillé and Mr.
René Courchesne. One named the permanent directors
and a tester of the books of the corporation there.

Tanguay, Benoît Beauchemin, Antoinette Carigan,
Isaïe Bergeron, Émile Cartier, mme Émile Cartier
and André Courchesne.Le Franciscan project of Saint-François-Of-Lake
consists of two corporations of which one goes back
to February 5, 1963 under Family's name In the Hundred
Homes. Inc" and the second date December 14, 1976
under the name of "House Hosanna." The Family To
the Hundred Home Inc. possess the Colony Full Field
that is now Solitude-Saint-François, situated at
the 200 Large Earth.
This corporation has its head office home Courchesne,
to the 208 Large Earth. The colony has eleven buildings.
The House Hosanna possesses the firm Greccio that
counts five residential houses more a chêverie and
a dairy situated to the basement of the chapel,
a part of the round island and the Hermitage erected
in the plantation of pines of the Colony Full Field.

Without the love of our volunteers for God and for
the Father Lessard this work would have died for
a long time. Without our hard-working and hard-working

Here is the place where is the Bookstore;

Madgela and the Fatima room. In the future plans,

complete bathroom for the colony of youngsters;

House Hosanna
If you want to finish your days here,
with the members of the fraternity Saint Michel.
Affordable pension. In this big house to 3 floors
there are 2 permanent people, the other are
of passage. The Father comes every evening to
take his/her/its coffee and on demand, to give
some advice to the present people. The morning,
he/it eats lunch in silence. Here Monette looks
for its keys. It will be necessary to give the
working hours volunteer however; has a library
at the 3rd floor. The Father Aurel stays there
every Wednesday and during his/her/its vacations.

The first house that the Father Lessard had
when he came to found, and that served experience
also for the manufacture of the dry toilets.
But she/it lives in Mrs. Céline Boucher, Louise
Perreault, and from time to time Fabiola. The
Father Lessard, when he/it finished to take
his/her/its coffee home Hosanna goes to see
Louise and Céline for the report of the day
and to make the balance of the work of the whole
personal, walkers, chambreurs etc. |

Historic
MADONNA HOUSE is a community of men and women
laymen dedicated, and of priests. We are a family
of the Catholic church, dedicated to the love
and the Christ's service in each of us and in
all men. Our center of formation is in Combermere,
Ontario, a small situated village to about 300
kilometers to the northeast of Toronto and to
140 kilometers to the west of Ottawa, in the
valley of the Madawaska. About the half of the
few 200 members lives and work, either in the
center of formation or elsewhere in the apostolate
in Combermere.
The other members œuvrent in 22 foundations:
to Canada, to the United States, in the Antilles,
in England, in France, in Brazil and in Africa.
Every foundation receives a mandate of the bishop
of the local diocese. Some of the foundations
serve the bodily needs of the local population,
others are mainly "houses of welcome" and monitoring.
Catherine Doherty, our founder, said that the
solitude is the biggest poverty of the modern
times. In each of our houses, the most important
vocation is to form a community of love, and
to open our cœurses and our house to the other.
Madonna House welcomes the visitors who wish
to live and to work more or less with the community
during one period long.

| During the holy week, I gave some teachings,
after the lunch, and I thought that some could
make office, for you, of a letter to all our
members. I shared them in depth with those that
are here and I would like to make in the same
way with you that are far. Today
holy Thursday, it is the day of the ministration.
Astonishing, mysterious, impenetrable day, if
you think there, because it is the one where
the Christ instituted the ministration. This
truth is as simple as incredible because the
gospel told us that after his/her/its resurrection
and before his/her/its ascension, Jesus reprimands
his disciples because they were not very happy
to see to leave him toward his/her/its Father.
What seems a contradiction, because, actually,
Jesus didn't want to leave us. It is obvious
all along the gospel! And because he/it didn't
want either to leave us, now we have the priests.
In his/her/its immense love for us, He/it chooses
some men among those that had worked and had
conversed with Him, of the men that <<
would raise It >> and could share with
us this Bread and this Wine that he/it told
to give us for the eternal life. Yes, through
the intermediary of these men, He/it gave us
to drink << the white-water >> of
which He/it had spoken to the woman of Samarie.
Once again, his/her/its incredible love is made
us visible.

for the priests? Why do we raise ourselves when
they arrive to table for the meals? Why do we
speak them with a respectful simplicity? The
answer is easy: because when a priest enters
in this house, it is the Christ that between.
Us soaps by the faith. At the time of his/her/its
ordination, a plain man (and therefore sinner)
goes up three steps to the altar. Another more
aged man, the bishop, spreads the hands on his/her/its
head. After the ceremonial and the prayers,
the man who descends to mingle with his/her/its
brothers is priest of God. Who can touch the
mystery of this incredible event? Once I visited
Rome, a priest of a religious order told to
me that one of their bishops, of passage in
Moscow, must order three priests in the toilets!
He/it is not therefore need of three walks,
a choir and an elaborate ritual... a human being
who wants to be a priest is sufficient and of
a bishop to order it. With the fullness of the
divine power that the bishop possesses, he can
order a man in the toilets if it is necessary!
When one achieves it, it is not astonishing
that one falls on the knees, all absorbed and
enveloped by the mystery of God's love for us,
God didn't want to let us orphans. He/it wanted
to give us someone some that we can see his/her/its
resemblance, not his/her/its physical resemblance,
but what he/it is really, the lover, the Soft,
The one that forgives, the Servant, someone
that would make that that ll made: to wash the
feet of the humanity. But he/it made more again!
He/it gave to the priest a special power, so
that when this one pronounces some words, it
is the Christ who washes our soul and hugs us
in the love and the reconciliation, therefore,
the Christ comes to us with a love of such a
simplicity that we should have short breath
of it.. He/it comes to us under a priest's appearance!
You will tell to me: << has the priests
sinners who make inexpensive of their liabilities
and get married without dispensation. >>
You say it because, in this country, one didn't
give you a good knowledge of that that is really
the ministration. It is why you can understand
only << the seal of the ministration >>
has been engraved in the soul of this poor man
sinner by the fire of the holy mind and the
Father's hand. And this grant or this mark of

| When, in Russia, the last priest
died in my city (he was killed under my eyes),
if I had learned that he remained one of it
again, loaded of all deadly sins (and living
maybe with his/her/its mistress) I would have
gone while crawling to see this man to receive
the divine grants that he could give me. I would
not have worried not at all about his/her/its
mistress and his/her/its other reprehensible
actions because the faith passes through all
it. She/it tears the fronting that I could have
seen, a priest's physical presence in state
of sin, to show me the interior reality. In
the faith, I would have seen sudden this man
transfigured in the divine glory.
I would have since, the day
of his/her/its ordination, this man had been
transfigured in the Christ in a marvelous, incredible
and completely inexplicable way because it is
a mystery. I would have known that the Christ
in would have given me to him the absolution,
that he/it is a sinner or no.
It is there about something
elusive, of a deep mystery that passes us. Recall
yourselves it therefore if you are ever facing
the death in circumstances as those that I knew
during the Russian revolution. I would have
crawled until this man to tell to him: <<
Father I ask you to hear my confession and to
give me the money that is she <'' food for
the journey".> I would not have worried about
the man because I would have seen the Christ
in him.
You ask one thousand questions on the priest
and number among them are out topic... Why do
some get married do make this or it? Hey well,
it is their human side; but the Christ stays
in them, still the Christ! Because they are
human beings as us, they can bind it as us,
as we can also make it by our sins, and to flog
it and to crown it of thorns. But there is something
in the priest who is different from all others,
it is that the Christ Himself is going to come
untied some him, if someone needs Him. Let's
not forget that the twelve apostles were not
perfect men. One left Jesus and the other disowned
it momentarily! One only attended to the crucifixion

run as far that their legs could carry them,

judge our priests (smile hiring, vast knowledge,
expertise and this or it.) I dare to say that
all it is only very secondary. We should not
judge a priest to his/her/its good mine, his/her/its
education and the rest, but to satisfy us to
look at it while saying: <God thank you,
he/it is there>. He/it is indeed one of the
main signs of God's love for us. (I don't yet
understand how we have fifteen priests in Madonna
House whereas, in the world, the thousands of
parishes don't have some. But, evidently, God's
ways is impenetrable! ) Approach a priest therefore
while achieving that thanks to his/her/its ordination
<he/it carries God> of a manner all special.
Let's approach it as we would approach the Christ.
You, the women, keep yourselves perfectly pure
of heart and mind. So, to get married, a priest
gives up his ministerial duties, tell yourselves
although the woman is nearly more responsible
than He. We are all of the clay vases that the
women have the duty to carry in what I would
call it <<veil of Véronique >> with
which, says the legend, she/it wiped the Christ's
face. This act of charity was worth him to keep
the print of it on the veil... veil of which
we should envelop our vases of clay bus if the
Christ that we carry, shine through us, we won't
tempt the priests. It is good to remember that,
in the ministration, our heart is directly facing
the one of the Christ. Let's must us, of no
way, to seduce the man as that, by his/her/its
ordination, made vow of chastity. It would be
sufficient to say Jesus' name to calm our heart

Why do you want to criticize the
priests? Why criticize who that it is? The
Christ he/it doesn't have says: << Don't
judge and you won't be judged. >> The
priests deserve our deepest respect. In Madonna
House, we rise when a priest enters in the
piece. We don't make it for the man, but for
the one that is the Christ... what implies
the faith, a deep faith! Here is a human being
as you and me, but a special human being,
someone before that you can kneel and to be
washed of your sins, someone that can give
you Bread and the Wine that the Christ gave
us when He died so that we have the eternal
life. It is with a << respectful
>> simplicity that we must act with
a priest, and I insist on the word <<
respectful >>. I remember that once
a priest arrived very intoxicated. Then I
put it in bed to sleep and to sober up. The
following day morning, I brought him of coffee.
He/it had the empty look and as << lost
>>. I knelt close to the bed and asked
him to bless me. He/it looked at me while
saying: << Achieve yourselves that I
follow and this that I made? Don't see yourselves
that I am a '' useless ''. Me him répondis:<<Oui,

I remember another time, whereas
I was ten years old, and that we were in Poland
for vacations. I walked on the road when sudden

However, since I was baby one taught me to
like and to venerate the priests and this
vision split my small heart! I moved away
while running as if I had the devil at the
heels. Arrived home, I tell my mother: <<

in the priest in a special manner. Yes, the

that when we lived in Egypt, to twelve years,
I went in one religious school in Alexandria.
A priest who had come to preach us a retirement

the seminary because He/it didn't succeed

Incidentally, we have there
the essence of the spiritual direction. A priest
is not someone that we are going to see with
all our psychological problems... nor because
X, THERE or Z was not agreeable with us, You
are going to see a priest to say: << Father,
I sinned. >> You go there so that he/it
absolves you, and to tell to him: << Father,
show me the path toward God. >> The Holy
spirit teaches it and it is by it that we find
God more easily than if we made it only. About
what expertise is it? The priest who is held
before the one that he/it directs is above all
there for good to listen to it, His/her/its
heart has two ears: one to listen to the holy
mind, the other to listen to you. (The Christ
who is some makes him it possible.) Saint Jean

the help of the spiritual direction to advance
on the path of the Paradise. I open him the

possible, to drive me to God by a << abridgment

The priest's heart, as the one of the Christ,
is transfixed by the spear of the love. But
we owe all to pray so that, in his/her/its heart,
this love doesn't stop growing. With the transfixed
heart as the one of the Christ was, they will
make us thus, you and me, to raise us spiritually.
And is not - this not for what we look... to
be raised toward the Christ? This spiritual
direction is what we wait for our priests.
A priest's love is a blessing, because
it is God who likes us. It is because God knows
that we are human, frail, sinners, full of doubts
and for fear that he gave us some men to show
us the love... His/her/its love! the divine
love as much that human rests in a priest's
heart. It is a really magnificent thought: his/her/its
heart is a chalice in which meets a the man
and God thanks to the one that God ordered to
show to the world the Christ's love. Indeed,
it should make fly off our faith in the cosmoses!
The priest is a man called to be another Christ,
who lives to serve, that is let itself crucify
himself in order to can, him also, to be raised
and to attract all thing to the Christ. The
priest is a man in love with God. He/it is God's
grant the man's and the man to God. (I had,
one moment, hoped that my son would be a priest.
So God had wanted it, it would have been the
biggest of his/her/its grants. But he/it didn't
want it.) The
priest is the sign of the Verb makes flesh,
the sword of God's justice, the hand of God's
mercy and the reflection of God's love; nothing
on earth, if it is not God Himself, is not bigger
than a priest! It is holy Thursday.
in this holy day, of the holiest of the weeks,
the ministration (as us understand it) took
birth in the world. That day, the Saint Eucharist
was instituted for our food. The Last Supper
became the meal of the beggars, nourishing the
divine life of the poor sinners that we add.
The supreme grant that a priest can offer to
our world is therefore well this divine sacrifice
that feeds us God!
I know that when I tempt to speak of the ministration
my language is clumsy. I am not able to really
nothing to say; how to speak of the love of
God demonstrated under a man's shape! Lovingly

The spiritual Directors

I would like, today, to maintain
you of several questions. I start with the most
important that is the one of the spiritual direction
without which renouncement and consecration
will be for you, slow to put in work, and difficult
to support, prolonging of as much the anxious
waiting and saddened of the Lord.
One could believe that you understand it, as
it is besides the case of most of you. You know
that, by the Fathers of the church, God clearly
showed us that we could not do without spiritual
direction. It is why all Catholics should have
recourse there. Saint Jean of the Cross, doesn't
have--t he/it doesn't say that" only an insane
heads himself' "The dedicated people would have
to, more that all others, to observe this practice.
It is a grace that will make them achieve their
poverty and their weakness better. We need a
spiritual guide on the narrow road that leads
to the Paradise because the demon takes pleasure
to place the misleading indications and all
there especially at the important crossroads.
I believe that, for most, you recognize this
necessity and chose a director when you were
in Madonna House, in Combermere. But, now that
you are in mission, ask yourselves for what
reports you kept with him, The spiritual direction
should continue by correspondence, For your
perfection and the one of the apostolate, it
is of a vital importance that you wrote to your
director at least two times per month. This
holy priest must know the mental, emotional
and spiritual state all your to be. Besides,
even makes it to express you confidential way
in writing is a factor of peace for your soul.
The Christ, the big Director Spirituel who is
behind the one that you chose, already blesses
you and, without you realized it, often bring
you a beginning of answer while making take
down on you a deep peace. This because you showed
evidence of humility and dependence opposite
the priest that he/it chose to guide you.
While submitting you to the
spiritual direction, you took the best precaution

to throw into question the necessity of a spiritual
direction, it question God, the church and popes...........
You could answer me qu you are going to write
or that you already made it but that you only
received little a letter satisfactory or maybe
same no. I retell you that it must
not disrupt you because, in fact, you wait for
a human consolation... What can be pleasant,
but it is sometimes preferable to pass itself/themselves
of it. The spiritual direction wants that you
revealed your soul to your director. With the
confidence of a child and an unreservedly love,
let him all responsibility knowing, in the faith,
that his/her/its silence, his/her/its brief
words or even his/her/its answers little satisfactory
are the means that God chooses to form you.
It must not make stop you to write to him.
You must understand that if
you only receive short answers or even no, your
letters are sources of immense graces. Don't
forget that the Christ, the big Director Spirituel,
is between you and Him. Once your accomplished
duty, the one of your director is to look after
what the holy mind guides you. If your letters
require an answer, be certain that you will
receive it. But keep your soul in the love and
the confidence, and continue to write, even
though this silence gives you the impression
to make it in vain. Your letter arrived to a
man who is another Christ and that knows the
state of your soul; it now has the responsibility
of it. He/it doesn't remain you, with the graces,
that to savor the deep peace that you feel after
having written. The spiritual direction has
as much importance for you that for the whole
apostolate. Indeed courage, the renouncement
and the consecration of all depend some because
our strength cannot surpass the weakest link...
Those among us that endeavor to acquire a" independence
and an illusory individuality" dig themselves
an emotional tomb. After all, it is God the
best of the psychiatrists;. the obedience, the
confidence, the exemption and the love are at
a time gas and the fruit of the big command
of love that God gave us. In not observing it,
us us détruisons.Pensez to the obedience. She/it
won't heal us and won't make us grow spiritually
if it is necessary for us to know always why
we obey, because it becomes then an act dictated
by the reason. This is how obey the men, that
it was about their business or their regards.
But this obedience is not more the fruit of
the love that of joy. If you have child's heart,
full trustworthy in the one that gives some
orders - and by the superior, it is always God
who gives them; you immediately obey with joy
and without asking questions. It is then only
that will be observed the mind of the law and
that the one of poverty will shine in all the
burst of his/her/its splendor.
The abandonment of our own will is the coronation
of poverty, which is the foundation of the love
that permits to grow and to grow. Such is the
role of the obedience that makes disappear depression
and feeling of guilt. The heart is flooded then
of joy and, in the apostolate, life becomes

He/it seems that we would have to,
once besides, to clarify the question of the
spiritual directors. Let's review what we already
know some therefore quickly. He/it
is likely that in Madonna House one of his/her/its
members doesn't ignore the life of perfection
to which we are called only, require a total
consecration. However, to live it in poverty,
the chastity and the obedience, us must have
a spiritual director.. The waters of life are
turbulent and dangerous, it is why SATAN AIME
TO to PLACE SOME AMBUSHES ON THE PATH... We
need a guide, it is obvious.
We generally know how us there to take to choose
a spiritual director. It is necessary to pray
very strong before, these are very important
relations that we bind with the Christ - priest.
Also, must ask ourselves to direct us toward
the person who invites. He/it will make it maybe
while giving us a certain spiritual attraction,
thanks to a sermon or to one retirement, for
such priest who will have said some spiritual
truth that goes us right to the heart, It is
by such indications that God can direct us toward
him. Once we found it, we must have
with him a child's simplicity. We must like
it supernaturally as we like God, while granting
him a total confidence and an absolute obedience.
Otherwise, we would not have spiritual director
need. If we try to skew with him, as human beings
even make it with God, we encourage Satan to
trap us. One cannot act thus with God. These
rules concern everybody, as well in the apostolate
that to the outside. But us that add some apostles
laymen, we must encourage to take a spiritual
director those with that and for that we work,
I repeat that to pass is himself pure madness
of it, it comes back to be completely without
guide in the middle of an immense desert inconnu.Mais
he/it would be no less silly and ridiculous
to choose like spiritual director someone that
ignores the apostolate completely and I insist
completely" on the word."

... Your epistolary relations with a spiritual
director are very different from what they are
with me, I know that you like your spiritual
directors, but you don't make to them enough
confidence. Write them without fear, It is of
your soul that it is about. The priests have
the grace wanted to read between the lines.
Don't worry of your style, nor of your grammar,
nor of whatever it is of this kind. Trust a
whole God. He/it will make so that the priest
perfectly understands the poorest letter. If
you don't receive an immediate answer, don't
forget that God cannot give it to you a long
time before strong, sometimes same before you
are face-to-face... It also can happen that
she/it reaches you very slowly... what is a
divine way to clarify your possible doubts.
He/it happens to more that, at the time, the
answer has no sense for you, but if you think
there, it will lighten. The silence
of the spiritual director is maybe a means to
teach you the patience and to learn you to develop
confidence and obedience; it also wants that
this problem that it understands very well,
makes in you his/her/its path while it prays
to your intention. Are the reasons of this delay
able in fact, to explain themselves of one thousand
ways who, well fortunately, do escape us and
who don't have another goal that to make grow
your faith and your confidence, do you Begin
to understand this that I want to say?.
Therefore, when you are going to find a spiritual
director of Madonna House, you must like, trust
and obey. Send you as far as God, continue to
let direct you by him. It is the intelligent
and supernatural solution if you want to become
indeed holy and to live the mind of Madonna

There is not anything more
sublime than to bring the Christ in the world.
Be happy to be missionary of the King of love,
Peace, Justice and Holiness" (The Pope Jean-Paul
II).
A Franciscan secular Institute
This secular Institute applies to all generous
women who want to give to their life a full
output, while staying in the middle of the world,
to work to establish the Christ's reign everywhere
on our earth.
Who are these women?
These are the women, adults in the faith, who
decided to walk on the Christ's traces, like
François of foundation, in the dedicated celibacy,
lived in full world, in order to reveal the
gospel, by all humans,.
What do they make?
Since their entry in the institute, the Missionaries
get to the service of the church, while being
the Christ's presence in the world, by the achievement
of their professional work. It is there their
first place of engagement.
How do they testify?
Witnesses of the gospel, to the manner of François
of foundation of which they marry the spirituality,
the Missionaries of the Christ's Royalty don't
have for goal to present a very determined program,
but to say to the world, of life, according
to the charisma of each, forms by them a particular
manner to be Christian. These are the needs
of the middle where they live that their field
of action delimits.
How do they live?
Fed by one life of prayer adapted to the clean
rhythm of each, they live the mind of the beatitudes,
as leaven in the dough, mingled at the world
while staying unknown of the world, sowing the
peace and joy. The Missionaries of the Christ's
Royalty keep the incognito, even within their
family and achieve their mission without revealing
their adherence in a secular Institute.
What ties do they exist between them?
The Missionary in the world is not alone. A
brotherly mind unites all members of the institute
and express himself in frequent meetings between
them, especially on the occasion of the récollections
and the yearly retirement.
A little history
It is to Foundation (Italy), in 1919, that is
born the Secular institute of the Missionaries
of the Christ's Royalty, on the initiative of
the Chairwoman of the Feminine Youth of Italy,
Armida Barelli and of the founder of the university
of Milan, the Father Agostino Gemelli, Franciscan.
The church approved this Institute and declared
it of papal right, August 3, 1953. This feminine
secular Institute took such a development that
his/her/its 4000 members exercise today their
apostolate in twenty-eight countries through
the world. To Canada, the Missionaries of the
Christ's Royalty are established in the diocese
of Montreal, since October 6, 1958. Other dioceses
also count the members that work to the expansion
of Kingdom and want, following François, to
make like the love that is not liked anymore!
The Christ calls
All women, between 25 and 40 years that are
anxious to answer the love and the needs of
their brothers and sisters, in a dedicated celibacy
can join to this portion of the Franciscan family
so long as they have a good human balance and
will to make to God the total grant of themselves.
Whatever is your profession, you have an important
role maybe to play in the mission of the church
to give back the Christ in the world.

Very dear Missionaries of the Christ's Royalty!
1. I am happy to welcome you in this particular
audience, on the occasion of the fiftieth birthday
of the foundation of your secular Institute.
I address my cordial greetings to your President
and I thank it for the polite words through
which he/it made himself/itself the inerprète
of the common feelings. My salute spreads to
all present people and all your colleagues who
work in different countries of Europe, Africa
and Latin America, with a loving thought for
the patients, the aged people and, in particular,
for the young that, in number growing, feel
attracted by the missionary charisma of your
spiritual family.
Your foundation took place October 4, 1953 in
the church "San Damiano", to Foundation. It
is about an opportunity happy to return thanks
to the Lord of the so numerous fruits of good
who arrived to maturity until today, and to
leave with a renewed missionary impetus, while
announcing the gospel to the men and to the
women of the third millennium.
2. According to your founder's original intuition,

is characterized like a ministerial fraternity,
in which each, faithful to God's intention,
achieves its own consecration to the service
of the church, germ and beginning on the earth
of the Christ's Kingdom (cf. LG, N. 5). While
inspiring you François saint of foundation,
you live "the ministerial ministry according
to the model of life that the Christ indicated
to his first disciples, while inviting them
to all to leave for him and for the gospel"
(Constitutions, n. 3; cf. PC 3). Pursue this
demanding ascetic and apostolic itinerary, but
liberating, while returning thanks to the Lord
every day of your ministerial ministry, grant
and divine love mystery.
3. Keep living your founder's charisma, while
adapting it to the new social status and cultural
of our time. Your ecclesiastic service will
be fruitful if you keep a constant contact with
the Christ in the prayer, and if you always
cultivate more the communion with the bishop
and with the college of the priests of the dioceses
to which you belong. Be missionaries full of
goodwill and generous devotion for your brothers.
That the ardor to evangelism drags you in an
apostolate that doesn't know any borders. As
I wrote it in the exhortation apostolic Pastores
dabo vobis, the spiritual grant received by
the priests with the ordination prepares "them
not to a limited and restricted mission, but
to a mission of universal size salute, "until
the extremities of the earth" (Ac 1, 8) ". It
is why the spiritual life of the priests must
be marked deeply by the impetus and the missionary
dynamism" (cf. n. 32).
4. Very dear brothers! While thanking you for
this visit that takes place in the setting happy
of the jubilee celebrations of your Institute,
I exhort you above all to stretch toward the
holiness and to make the priority of your existence
of it, in order to become to your tower of the
witnesses and the masters of evangelical perfection.
The spirituality clean to the missionaries of
the Christ's Royalty, that is secular and ministerial,
represent a meaningful heritage that must be

HISTORIC
The Fra
nciscan Fraternity of l ' Emmanuel has been
founded January 5, 1985 in the diocese of Montreal,
and received a letter of encouragement of the hand of
the Cardinal Paul Grégoire.
After 10 years of implication
in Montreal and in Granby, some brothers went to live
3 years of Franciscan formation and mission by the poor
people and homeless in the Broxn, New-York. In 1977, they
came back to Quebec to pursue their liabilities in Church,
richer of this experience. Since, we are a quarantine
of members (for most in formation), distribute in 5 local
fraternities, of which one to Montreal and four in Cameroon,
in Africa.
We also have about hundred Ami(e)ses
of Jesus-Emmanuel that are associés(e)s in our fraternity
FOUNDATIONS
The Franciscain(e)ses of l ' Emmanuel, it is an evangelical
life Fraternity that takes root in the spiritual experience
of François saint, the Poor of Foundation, and of his/her/its
first compagnons.Notre Fraternity enrolls in a Franciscan
renewal movement lived in numerous new Fraternities through
the world. We are in brotherly communion and in collaboration
with the Franciscan Family of Quebec. Life and words of
François saint guide us on the path of gospel that makes
us free for God and for the mission.Nous want to be carriers
of l ' Hope and the Christ's Peace, and so to continue
the Franciscan charisma contained in the: "Go,
François, and repair my Church that falls in ruin"
Missionary contemplative and
contemplative missionaries.
So begin our By-laws: "God is
Father. He/it liked the world so much that he/it sent
his/its Only son so that he/it becomes our BROTHER. In
Jesus, by Him and with It a fraternity, a new and universal
communion, initiated…" The universal fraternity, as inaugurated
by the Christ's arrival, that our father holy François
took and lived until the conformity, is at the heart of
our spirituality. By one life at a time contemplative
and missionary, we learn to become brothers and universal
sœurs towards all creatures according to Jesus' very example.
We integrate the features fundamental
of the Franciscan spirituality: - intense brotherly life,
lived with simplicity and joy - way of the holy poverty
and the minority (smallness) - penitence (evangelical
conversion) - love of l ' Eucharist, devotion mariale,
liturgical prayer and praise - communion and fidelity
to the church
The Fraternity lives its vocation
first in the communion to the Christ by the prayer and
the brotherly experience. Our apostolate wishes to be
a shooting overflow of the Christ's meeting thus. Witnesses
of "l ' Love who are not liked" or so little, it is at
a time by our lives, our words and our gestures that we
vow being, so that The one that we announce is recognized.
Our mission shares in two poles:
L ' evangelism, prioritairement by the young adults (18-35):
- in the parks, the streets, the schools, the jails, the
weekends of some,
… we announce the Christ's love - by the testimony, the
announcement and the teaching of his/her/its Speech. -
by the predication of parochial and other retirements.
- by the welcome of young adults.
The Fraternity
Gather the Catholic men and women, of all life states,
that, wanting to live with more of fullness their baptismal
consecration, answer the call of the Lord according to
different vocations: The members dedicated (internal or
external): The internal brothers dedicate themselves to
God in the celibacy and live their Franciscan call communally
They make vœux of chastity,
poverty, obedience and fidelity in the church. They are
wholetime available for life and the mission of the Fraternity.
A feminine branch will possibly develop itself.
There is also some consacrés(es)
external that commit by the vœux to live their consecration
in the secular reality.
The service by the poorest:
Sharing of food with families and the more resourceless
individuals. To offer a temporary lodging to homeless,
with a personal follow-up to help them to regain better
conditions of life. To be available to the people who
come to us, or toward that we go, in their different needs.

By a stay more or less long, the young finds
a middle of growth for his/her/its human and Christian
life. The animation of meetings of ressourcement for youngsters.
These gatherings are an opportunity privileged of evangelism
for the most distant of the faith and practice Christians.
The personal engagement and / or communal according to
the requirement of the middle and l ' local Church.
The secular members stay in their own
middle and live their Franciscan engagement inside their
own call. They can be diocesan priests, permanent deacons,
committed laymen, men or women, married or unmarried,
and are witnesses of l ' Gospel in their middle. They
also make a promise of fidelity in the church.
All members, dedicated so much that
secular, internal and external, commit to live according
to the shape of life of the rule of the Secular Franciscan
order, as explained by our By-laws. They form one only
and same FRATERNITY and recognize themselves sum "brothers
and sœurs" in François saint. They carry the project of
life and the mission d ' Church that are confided to them
together.
The Amis(e)ses of Jesus-Emmanuel
are ASSOCIÉ(E)S
To the Fraternity that likes our Franciscan
spirituality.
Without formal engagement, they sustain our mission
by the prayer and / or by activities during the year,
according to their desire and availability.
They receive our Bulletin and the letters
- circular of the Fraternity and can participate to communal
ressourcement time. |
Missions
Since the year 2000, the Fraternity spread
to l ' Africa, in the diocese of Nkongsamba to Cameroon.
This mission regroups 4 local fraternities of secular
members (external) and 3 groups d ' Friends (are)
of Jesus-Emmanuel (associé(e)s).
In a near future, we hope to
open a house of brothers dedicated interns there,
"… Yes, it is God's hour for Africa. l ' Africa VIVRA,"
(ecclesia Africa in, 6) "don't have fear to leave
in the streets and on the public places, like the
first apostles who preached the Christ and the Good
News of the salute on the squares of the cities, the
cities and villages.
It is not the time to be ashamed
of the gospel. It is the time to preach it on the
roofs. Don't be afraid to leave the routine and comfortable
fashions to live, in order to raise the challenge
to make know the Christ in the modern "metropolis".
It is you that must go to the crossing of the paths
to invite all those that you meet to the banquet that
God prepared for his People. L ' Gospel cannot suffer
from being hidden by indifference or by fear. It was
never supposed to be hidden in the private domain.
He/it must be placed on the tribune so that the peoples
see light of it and return glory to our Father of
the Heaven."
