Jean-Paul II gives its blessing of Sunday of Easter in silence
In spite of a very big effort, he/it didn't succeed in speaking
MENTION
VATICAN, Sunday March 27, 2005 (ZENIT.org)
-It
is in silence that the pope Jean-Paul II gave his/her/its
blessing "urbi and orbi" (to the city and to the
world), in this Sunday of Easter, since the window of his/her/its
office, in presence of several thousands of pilgrims united
Place Saint Pierre. In spite of a very big effort, he/it didn't
succeed in pronouncing words of the Latin formula of the blessing.
The
Holy Father, that had asked for a micro, tempted to make hear
his/her/its voice, in vain, repeatedly but without trying
to conceal the fragility of his/her/its health state to the
cameras of the 104 TV channels of 74 countries, (of which
8 to Moslem majority) that shot it.
The crowd gathered Place Saint Pierre answered the efforts
despaired of the Holy Father by cordial applause, many pilgrims
capable to keep their tears.
Since the tracheotomy undergone last February 24 the pope
is himself as excused repeatedly in public during his/her/its
brief apparitions, not to be able to pronounce his/her/its
blessing, blessing the crowd of a gesture of the right hand,
without hiding his/her/its sadness, then.
The pope remained at the window during close to a quarter
of hour, himself exhibitor to the wind that blew this morning
in Rome.
A short time before, in his/her/its Message of Easter, read
in his/her/its name by the cardinal Angelo Sodano, under-secretary
of Vatican, he/it had implored the Christ's presence in the
Eucharist for a world bruised by the wars, the disasters,
misery and the materialism.
"Peace for the earth dedicated by your blood and bathed
of the blood of so many innocent victims; peace for the countries
of Middle East and Africa, where so much blood also continues
to be poured; peace for all the humanity, always threatened,
by the danger of fratricidal wars", said the pope in
his/her/its Message.
"Give us, to us also, the strength of a generous solidarity
towards the multitudes that, today again, suffer and die of
misery and hunger,
who are decimated by deadly epidemics or are touched by terrifying
natural disasters", he/it pursued.
"Make that the material progress of the peoples never
blurs the spiritual securities that are the soul of their
civilization", concluded the pope.
It is the cardinal Angelo Sodano that presided the Mass of
Sunday of Easter, in presence of the supporters gathered on
the gorgeously decorated Place Saint Pierre, like every year,
bushes and flowers (in majority yellow and white) offered
by Dutch horticulturists.
It is the first time in 26 years of pontificate that the pope
was not able to addressed his/her/its message of Easter in
different languages (he said generally some words in about
sixty different languages).

Communications: "Internet, new crossroads for l´annonce
of l´Evangile
"Message of Jean-Paul II for the Day 2002
MENTION
VATICAN, Tuesday January 22, 2002 (ZENIT.org) - has the full
text in an official translation in French of the message of
Jean-Paul II for the Day of the social communications 2002.
The Message is in date of January 24, feast of François
saint of Dirty, boss of the journalists.
- Message of Jean-Paul II -
Dear brothers and sisters,
1. To all time,
lŽEglise pursues lŽoeuvre begun the day of the Pentecost,
when the Apostles, propelled by the power of the Holy spirit,
went in the streets of Jerusalem to preach lŽEvangile of Christ
in numerous languages (cf. Ac 2, 5-11). With the passing of
the centuries, this mission évangélisatrice extended sŽest
to the four corners of the earth, while Christianity deep-rooted
sŽest in many places and taught to speak the various languages
of the world, always in obedience to the Christ's command
to preach lŽEvangile in every nation (cf. Mt 28,
19-20). But lŽhistoire of lŽévangélisation nŽest
not merely a question geographical dŽexpansion, because lŽEglise
should also have cleared many cultural turns, of which each
required new energies and a new imagination in the proclamation
of lŽEvangile of Christ. The period of the big discoveries,
the Renaissance and lŽinvention of lŽimprimerie, the industrial
Revolution and the birth of the modern world: it was also
the historic passages that required new shapes dŽévangélisation.
Now, whereas the revolution concerning communication and dŽinformation
is in full swing, lŽ Church is undoubtedly facing a new decisive
departure. He/it is therefore appropriate quŽen this world
Day of the Communications 2002, we thought on the theme: "Internet:
a new crossroads for lŽannonce of lŽEvangile ".
2. Internet is certainly a new "forum",
heard in his/her/its ancient sense Roman public dŽespace where
was driven the political life and the business, where were
filled the religious duties, where took place most the social
life and where was exposed this quŽil there has better and
of worse in the human nature. Him sŽ acted dŽun spaces populated
and loud, that reflected the surrounding culture at a time
and created a new clean culture. It is just as true of the
"cyberspace", that is in a way a new border that sŽouvre in
the beginning of this new millennium. As all new borders of
the other times, this one is also rich of dangers and promises
and is marked by lŽesprit dŽaventure that characterized dŽautres
big periods of change. For lŽEglise, the new world of the
"cyberspace" is an exhortation to the big adventure dŽutiliser
his/her/its potential to proclaim the message of lŽ Gospel.
This challenge is at the heart of that that means,
3. LŽEglise approaches this new medium with realism and confidence.
As all others communication media, him sŽagit dŽun instrument,
and thin non dŽune in itself. Internet can offer magnificent
opportunities dŽévangélisation sŽil is used with expertise
and a precise conscience of his/her/its strengths and his/her/its
weaknesses. By over all, while providing some information
and while causing lŽintérêt, he/it permits an initial meeting
with the Christian message, in particular among the young,
that turn more and more toward lŽunivers of the "cyberspace"
as verse a window opened on the world. He/it is therefore
important that the Christian community considers all means
convenient dŽaider those that have their first contact through
Internet to go the virtual world of the "cyberspace" by the
real world of the chrétienne.Par community the continuation,
Internet can also provide the kind of follow-up that lŽévangélisation
requires. In particular in a culture that nŽapporte not a
big support, the Christian life requires an instruction and
a catéchèse constants and it is probably the domain in which
Internet can be dŽune big help. Sources dŽinformations already
exists on Internet dŽinnombrables, of documentation and dŽéducation
on lŽEglise, his/her/its history and his/her/its tradition,
his/her/its doctrine and his/her/its engagement in all parts
of the world. He/it is therefore clear that so Internet can
never replace deep lŽexpérience of God that only the concrete,
liturgical and sacramental life of lŽEglise can offer, it
certainly provides a supplement and an unique support that
prepare to the meeting with the Christ in community, and that
sustains the new believer on the path of faith that sŽouvre
to lui.au beginning of the millennium, to follow the command
of the Lord dŽ"avance off-shore,: Duke in altum! " (Lc 5,
4).
4. However, some necessary questions, and
even obvious, emerge when lŽon uses Internet in lŽoeuvre of
lŽévangélisation. LŽessence dŽInternet is quŽil provides a
flux nearly continual dŽinformations, of which most pass in
one instant. In a culture that eats dŽéphémère, one can risk
to believe easily that these are the facts that are important,
and not the securities. Internet offers dŽimportantes knowledge,
but him nŽenseigne not of securities; and when the securities
are despised, our very humanity is decreased and lŽhomme loses
view his/her/its transcendent dignity quickly. In spite of
his/her/its immense potential of good, some of the degrading
and harmful ways of which are used Internet are already known
of all, and the public authorities certainly have a responsibility
to guarantee that this marvelous instrument serves the common
good and doesn't become a safety hazard.
Besides, Internet redefines radical way the report psychological
dŽune person to the time and to lŽespace. LŽattention is concentrated
on what is tangible, useful, and immediately available; lŽencouragement
to deepen the thought and the reflection can miss. Yet, the
human beings have a vital need of time and interior calmness
to think and to examine life and his/her/its mysteries, and
to acquire a dŽeux-same mature domination progressively and
of the world that surrounds them. The understanding and wisdom
are the fruit dŽun contemplative eye on the world, and don't
come dŽune simple accumulation of facts, whatever is their
interest. They are the result dŽune reflection that penetrates
the deeper significance of the things the some in relation
to the other and in relation to the entire reality. Besides,
as forum in which practically all is acceptable and practically
nothing lasts, Internet encourages a relativistic way to think
and sometimes nourish the lack of responsibility and personal
dŽengagement.
In such a context, how can we cultivate this wisdom who
doesn't come only of lŽinformation, but of the reflection,
the wisdom that consists well of the difference between the
and the pain, and who sustains lŽéchelle of securities who
derives this difference?
5. The fact quŽà Internet shortcoming, people
multiply their contacts of ways inconceivable present jusquŽà
opens marvelous possibilities to distribute lŽ Gospel. But
he/it is also true that the relations established in an electronic
way can never replace the direct human contact, necessary
for a real evangelism. Because lŽévangélisation always depends
on the personal testimony of the one that is sent to evangelize
(cf. Rm 10, 14-15). How does lŽ Church pass the kind of contact
permitted by Internet to the deeper communication required
by the Christian proclamation? How develop ourselves the first
contacts and exchanges dŽinformations that Internet?Il doesn't
permit makes no doubt that the electronic revolution includes
promises of big positive discoveries for the world in way
of development; but the risk quŽelle also exists aggravates
the inequalities already existing while lŽécart dŽinformation
and of communication sŽaccroît. How can we be certain that
the revolution in matter dŽinformation and communication,
of which Internet is the fundamental motor, will work in favor
of the internationalization of the human development and solidarity,
objectives closely linked to the mission évangélisatrice of
lŽEglise?
Finally, in this uneasy period,
allow me to ask: how can we be certain that this marvelous
instrument, conceived dŽabord in the context military dŽopérations,
can now serve the reason of the peace? Cannot he/it encourage
the culture of the dialogue, the involvement, solidarity and
the reconciliation without which the peace can sŽépanouir?
LŽEglise thinks that yes; and to be certain that cŽest well
the case, she is determined to enter in this new forum, armed
of lŽEvangile of the Christ, the Prince of the Paix.6. Internet
makes appear everywhere of the billions dŽimages on millions
dŽécrans dŽordinateurs in the world. Of this galaxy dŽimage
and sound, the Christ's face will take out again it and the
Christ's voice will it be sensible? Because this nŽest that
when his/her/its face will be contemplated and his/her/its
sensible voice that the world will know the good news of our
redemption. Such is the goal of lŽévangélisation. And cŽest
what will make dŽInternet a truly human space, because sŽil
nŽy doesn't have any place for the Christ, it nŽy doesn't
have any place for lŽhomme. CŽest why, in this world Day of
the Communications, jŽexhorte all lŽEglise to clear this doorstep,
to take the large in the depths dŽInternet, courageously to
present quŽà, as in the past, the big engagement of lŽEvangile
and the culture can show to the world God's glory that is
on the "Christ's face (2 Co 4, 6). Can the Lord to bless all
those that work to this objectif.Du Vatican, January 24, 2202,

"Internet: new crossroads for lŽannonce of lŽEvangile", under
this title, lŽunivers dŽInternet will make lŽobjet of the
Message of Jean-Paul II for the Day of the social Communications
of May 12, 2002.
"The theme chosen by the Holy Father, explain Mgr John P.
Foley, president of the Council Pontifical for the social
Communications, key lŽune of the keys of the developments
of the communication these last years, and dŽun particular
interest for the young." The world Day of the social Communications,
recall Mgr Foley, is the only celebration promue to the world
level by the council Vatican II in 1963, by the decree "Inter
Mirifica." She/it is celebrated traditionally Sunday preceding
the Pentecost, cŽest to say, in 2002, May 12.
The theme of the message is announced to lŽavance as traditionally,
but it is published January 24, day of the liturgical memory
of François saint of Dirty, boss of the journalists. This
delay gives the time in the Episcopal conferences and to the
diocesan offices to prepare the national and local demonstrations.

Excerpt of the message of Jean-Paul II
for the world Day of the communications of May 27, 2001
"As well as the world of the medias can seem sometimes foreign
to the Christian message, it offers unique opportunities
however also to proclaim the Christ's truth salvifique to
the human family all whole. Consider, for example, the transmissions
by satellite in worldwide broadcasting of the religious
ceremonies that often reaches a global audience, or the
capacities positive of Internet to distribute information
and the religious teaching beyond all gates and borders.
An audience as large would have passed the most daring imagination
of those that preached the gospel before us. An active and
imaginative engagement in the medias by the church is therefore
necessary for our time. The Catholics should not be afraid
to open all big the doors of the social communications to
the Christ, so that his/her/its Good News can be sensible
of the top of the roofs of the world! "
"Shout it on the roofs": the gospel to the era of
the world communication.
Vatican will publish two documents concerning Internet
MENTION VATICAN, Sunday April 1st, 2001 (ZENIT.org) &

The president of the Council Pontifical for the Social Communications,
lŽarchevêque John P. Foley, declared that the Saint Seat
would publish in addition to the document already announced
concerning Internet, a second text more pragmatic on the
pastoral opportunities that lŽEglise can find on Internet.
LŽarchevêque American lŽa announced yesterday, Saturday,
to the course dŽun Convention organized by the Italian Episcopal
Conference concerning Internet. Last March 16, to lŽoccasion
dŽune audience quŽil granted to the Council Pontifical for
the Social Communications, Jean-Paul II sŽest congratulated
of this initiative, specifying quŽun such document "will
be indeed very useful, being given the speed with which
the cybercommunications develops himself as well as the
numerous moral questions implied."
The next document of Vatican, in the line of the "LŽéthique
documents in the social communications" (2000) and "LŽéthique
in the advertisement" (1997) has a precise function, explained
the pope: "LŽEglise cannot consider in simple viewer the
social results produced by the technological progress, with
effects as decisive in the life of people."
The document of the Council Pontifical for the Social Communications,
that should have for title "lŽEthique in internet", can
be a precious help for the pastors of lŽEglise and for the
supporters, to face the numerous challenges that emerge
in the "culture of the communication media", had declared

ACT OF ABANDONMENT TO MERCY, of Jean-Paul II, (writes at
the age of 65 years)
‘Lord, there are more than 65 years that You made
me the grant inestimable of life, and since my birth, You
didn't stop filling me with your graces and your infinite
love. During all these years intermixed like that of big
joys, of the tests, successes, the failures, the reverses
of health, of the mournings, arrive to everybody. With your
grace and your help, I could triumph over these obstacles
and advance toward You. Today, I feel rich of my experience
and the big consolation to have been the object of your
love. My soul sings you my recognition.
But I meet daily in my setting of the aged people that You
feel strongly: they are paralyzed, handicapped, disabled
and don't have strength often more to ask You, others lost
the use of their mental faculties and are not able to more
reach You through their unreal world. I see to act these
people and I tell to myself: ‘If that was I? '.
Then, Lord, today same, while I enjoy the possession of
all my motor and mental faculties, I offer You my acceptance
in advance to your holy will, and from now on I want that
if one or the other of these tests I arrived, she/it can
serve to your glory and the salute of the souls. From now
on also, I ask You to sustain your grace the people who
would have the task ungrateful to come me in help.
So one day the illness had to invade my brain and had to
annihilate my lucidity, already, Lord my submissiveness
is in front of You and will continue in a silent worship.
So, a state of prolonged unconsciousness had to floor me
one day, I want that each of these hours that I will have
to live either a continuation interrupted of actions of
grace and that my last sigh is also a sigh of love. My soul
guided to this instant by Marie's hand, will present itself
before You to sing your praises eternally.
Amen.
Internet, in lŽabsence of priests, to the service of lŽannonce
of the salute Of the good use of canvas MENTIONS
THE VATIN... CAN, Wednesday June 6, 2001 (ZENIT.org) -
LŽnternet
is a means to announce the message of salute of the Christ,
in social contexts where the presence of priests and of religious
to not sufficient the service of lŽannonce of the salute nŽest,
underlined Mgr John Foley in an intervention in Vienna, to
lŽoccasion of the world Day of the social Communications of
last May 27. He/it gave some indications for the "good use"
of "canvas."
For lŽEglise also, said in substance the president of the
papal Council for the social Communications, lŽInternet can
be a "means marvelous dŽévangélisation and of pastoral service",
in particular where the social reality is hostile to the Christians
presence.
For lŽarchevêque clearest lŽavantage brought by lŽInternet
is indeed, quŽil permits to clear all types of border. He/it
is not sufficient dŽune telephone line, dŽun computer, dŽun
"modem", and... dŽun subscription?
LŽInternet makes possible the communication of lŽEvangile
without obstacle. "In the societies that don't permit the
presence of priests, of nuns or of religious nor of missionary
laymen, explained Mgr Foley, lŽInternet can offer people undertaking
a spiritual research, or even to simple curious, the possibility
dŽobtenir of the information or dŽavoir an impossible inspiration
to get dŽune other way."
Mgr Foley gave out some reserves however on the contents some
Catholic so-called sites: everything that presents itself
on Internet as linked to Catholic lŽEglise, he/it explained
in substance, nŽest not necessarily a "really authentic, really
Catholic source, really vaticane."
LŽInternet also offers a possibility of dialogue and pastoral
advice, continued Mgr Foley, encouraging to develop this type
dŽéchanges. The reflections of Mgr Foley donned an accent
thus directly pastoral, attached to discern advantages and
disadvantages of "canvas", and to raise some thus ambiguous.
And in particular, Mgr Foley underlined quŽen no case the
"confession-in-line", could not have a sacramental value.
The sacrament of the reconciliation and the penitence, specified
Mgr Foley, always imply "a personal meeting." The confession
must be made "in lŽoreille" of the priest.
Finally, Mgr Foley noted quŽà side of these extremely positive
possibilities, lŽInternet can be also, for example, a middle
dŽinvasion of the private life, or of pornographic material
diffusion. He/it underlined besides lŽeffet that on the young
can have the dependence of research dŽune "distraction without
end." As cŽest the case of all means of communications, concluded
Mgr Foley, "the possibilities to make the good are more important
than those to make the pain: all depends of lŽusage that lŽon
makes to some"
.
(Attention me Denise I found the Catholic sites that propose
on Internet of the written confession and the absolution put
back by electronic mail, it is unhappy but there are the sites
internets or priests that make fi of the recommendations of
Rome to watch s.v.p. encouraged not them.)
No
valid confession by Internet recalls the bishops
MENTION
VATICAN, Tuesday March 22, 2005 (ZENIT.org)-The confessions
by Internet are not valid; the supporter's physical presence
is indispensable for the Sacrament of the Penitence, recall
the Episcopal conference of Peru facing the diffusion of supposedly
"cybernetic confessionals", as the agency signals
it Fides vaticane.
Facing the diffusion of erroneous information on the possibility
to receive the Sacrament of the Confession by a "cybernetic
confessional", on Internet, and in conformity with what
is specified by the code of right cannon on the clean place
to receive the sacramental confessions (cannon 964, §
1), the Episcopal conference of Peru declares: "To receive
the Sacrament of the Confession, he/it is indispensable, besides
the inherent conditions to the Sacrament, to have the physical
presence of the supporter and the demonstration of his/her/its
own mistakes to the priest, in person".
Also "on no account, the complete accusation of the serious
sins or a priest's absolution that are far from the penitent,
are not considered like valid by the Catholic church."
The brief communiqué of the church of Peru ends by
a recall of that that the papal advice declares for the social
Communications, in his/her/its document "Church and Internet",:
"The virtual reality cannot replace the Christ's real
presence in the Eucharist, the sacramental reality of the
other Sacraments, and the cult participated in the flesh within
a human community. On Internet, there are not any Sacraments.
And in the same way, the religious experiences that there
is possible by God's grace, are insufficient if they separated
of the interaction of the real world with the other supporters"
(cf. n° 9)." ZF05032207

The Pope's invitation to open up to Internet, indicate a communiqué
of the cultural center, seem to arrive in fertile land: the
thousands of Catholic sites exist on the network, answering
all type of needs. Contrary to the reproaches that are often
made to him, the Catholic church is not late in use and the
development of the new technologies of communication. But
to this vitality and strong preoccupations oppose this enthusiasm:
the professionalism or the amateurism of sites and therefore
of their content, that coasts themselves with the same easiness
of access and without any discernment; the risk bound to the

Of the message of the Saint Father - 2002
LETTER IN THE CARDINAL CAMERLINGUE
Madrid, April 3, 2005
Feast of the Divine Mercy
S.E. Rvme
Eminence Eduardo Martínez Somalo
Cardinal Camerlingue
Quoted of Vatican.
Révérendissime eminence:
With my brothers and my sisters of the Secular Franciscan
order and the Franciscan Youth, present in 91 countries of
the world, I have the desire to communicate to Your Eminence
the serene pain but deep that we feel and let's share with
all the church, for the death of our dear Pope Jean Paul II,
intervening in these first days of Easter, as if the Father
wanted to offer him the fullness of the Peace of the Resuscitated.
With all the church, we offer our confident prayer to God,
Father of Mercy, so that he/it rewards his/its works and his/her/its
life data.
We followed and accompanied, with a moving emotion, the testimony
of acceptance, obedience and love, offered by the Saint Father
before the pain and the approach of "Sœur the Death",
until his/her/its last breath, tightening the Cross in his/her/its
arms, and configuring itself/themselves to the Christ. Acceptance,
obedience and love that mean faith, hope and total abandonment
to God's intention on his/her/its life, as he/it demonstrated
it to us all along his/her/its life given like "servant
of "God's servants. His/her/its attitudes and his/her/its
decisions reminded us, to us that are the children of François
of foundation, those of the "Poverello".
The Saint Father knew well where he went and considering,
as St. François had told it to us, than "him,
he took his/its part", he will have heard the consolatory
words of the Lord: "because you were a faithful servant,
enter in the joy of your Lord". And our Pope let of side,
happy, his/her/its pilgrim's worn-out sandals to take advantage
of the Christ, our Passover, and it for the eternity.
Don Eduardo, us, secular Franciscans, we cannot fail to thank
the Lord of the precious grant of the existence of the Pope
Jean Paul II and his/her/its service infinitely in the church,
while recalling how we felt especially beloved and taken in
consideration by him. We will keep, as precious heritage,
his/her/its magistery on our Order.
Be sure that we will maintain ourselves united in the prayer
so that the mind of the Lord, of which St. François
wanted to have his/her/its "holy operation" always
on all things, penetrate of his/her/its breath the College
cardinalice to offer to his/her/its Church a new Pope who
guides it with love, wisdom and grant of oneself, while constantly
inviting it and without rest, to the mission to like, to live
and to announce the gospel of the hope.

OF THE MESSAGE OF THE HOLY FATHER
To the GENERAL CHAPTER OF THE SECULAR FRANCISCAN ORDER - 2002
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
1.
I welcome you
all
with joy and I wish to each of you a cordial welcome: to all
secular Franciscans and to the members of Youth Franciscan
presents in the world. It is necessary to turn now toward
the future and to advance in deep water: Duke in altum!
The church waits for the secular Franciscan order, one and
unique, that it accomplished an important service to the reason
of God's Kingdom in the world of today. It wants that your
Order is a model of organic, structural and charismatic union
to all levels, in order to present itself/themselves at the
world like "community of love" (Rule OFS 26). The
church waits for you, secular Franciscans, a testimony courageous
and coherent of Christian and Franciscan life, aiming to the
construction of a world more brotherly and evangelical for
the realization of God's Kingdom.
2. the reflection done during this Chapter on the "vital
Communion reciprocates in the Franciscan Family" incites
you to hire you always more in the promotion of the meeting
and the understanding, first of all within your Order, then
with regard to the other brothers and sisters Franciscans
and finally, with the biggest care, as holy François
wished it, in the relation with the hierarchical authority
of the church.
3. at the time of the meeting that I had, there are more than
twenty years, September 27, 1982, with the participants to
the general assembly of your international Council, I exhorted
you: "Study, like, live the Rule of the secular Franciscan
order, approved for you by my predecessor Paul VI. She/it
constitutes an authentic treasure deposited between your hands,
in agreement with the mind of the Council Vatican II and correspondent
to what the church waits for you" (Insegnamenti, V/3,
1982, p. 613). I am happy to be able to address you some similar
words today: study, like, also live your general Constitutions!
These exhort you to accept help that, in order to accomplish
the Father's will, is offered you through the mediation of
the church, by those that have been constituted in her as
authority, and by your colleagues.
You are called to offer your own contribution, inspired by
the person and the message of François saint of foundation,
to precipitate the advent of a civilization where the dignity
of the human person, the co-responsibility and the love are
living realities (cf. Gaudium and Spes, n. 31ss). You must
deepen the real foundations of the universal fraternity and
must create a mind of welcome and an atmosphere of fraternity
everywhere. Hire yourselves with firmness against all shape
of exploitation, discrimination and marginalization and against
all attitude of indifference towards the other.
4. you, secular Franciscans, live by vocation the adherence
in the church and to the society as inseparable realities.
It is why one asks you first of all to testify personally
in the middle in which you live: "before the men; in
family's life; in work; in joy and in the sufferings; in the
meeting with the men, all brothers of the same Father,; in
your presence and your involvement to the social life; in
the brotherly report with all creatures" (Constitutions
general OFS 12.1). One won't ask you maybe to go until the
martyrdom and to the effusion of blood, but one asks you definitely
to reveal coherent and firm way while accomplishing the promises
made at the time of the Baptism and the Confirmation, renewed
and confirmed at the time of the profession in the secular
Franciscan order. According to this profession, the Rule and
the general Constitutions must represent, for each of you,
the reference position of the daily experience, from a specific
vocation and a precise identity (cf. Enactment of the general
Constitutions of the OFS). If you are pushed indeed by the
mind to reach the perfection of the charity in your secular
state, "it would be a misinterpretation that to be content
with one mediocre life, lived under the sign of an ethical
minimalist and a superficial religiosity" (Novo Millennio
ineunte, n. 31). It is necessary to enter with conviction
into this ""high degree" of the plain Christian
life", to which I invited the supporters to the term
of the big Jubilee of the year 2000 (ibid.).
5. I don't want to conclude this Message without recommending
you to consider your family as the primordial environment
in which to live the Christian engagement and the Franciscan
vocation, while letting place to the prayer, to God's Speech
and to the Christian catéchèse, and as lavishing
you for the respect of every life, of his/her/its conception
until his/her/its death, whatever is his/her/its situation.
It is necessary to make so that your families "give an
example convincing of the possibility of a marriage lived
fully of manner in conformity with God's intention and to
the true requirements of the human person: of the person of
the spouses, and especially of the one, more fragile, of the
children" (Novo Millennio ineunte, n. 47).
In this context, I exhort you to take hand-held the holy Rosary
that, by old tradition, be especially suitable all to be a
prayer in which the family meets. The members of this one,
while throwing a look truly on Jesus, also acquire a new capacity
to look at himself in the face, to communicate, to live solidarity,
to forgive itself/themselves mutually, to leave with a pact
of love renewed by "God's mind (Rosarium Virginis Mariae,
n. 41). Make it while turning your look toward the Virgin
Marie, humble maid of the Lord, available to his/her/its Speech
and to all his/her/its calls, Her that was surrounded by François
with an unspeakable love and that was chosen as the Protector
and the lawyer of the Franciscan Family. Testify him your
ardent love, while imitating his/her/its availability inconditionnée
and in the effusion of a confident and conscious prayer (cf.
Rule OFS 9).
With these wishes, I give you whole-heartedly, dear secular
Franciscans, as well as to you, members of the Franciscan
Youth, a special apostolic Blessing.
To Vatican, November 22, 2002
Jean Paul II
