Be interested
in the arts since his/her/its to stretch childhood. It is
since the age of seven years that he/it makes the theater.
He/it had an engagement of eight years as comedian in a
TV series (the verger in at twilight) that took back an
enormous success in Quebec. Serge makes himself/itself notice
also for a long time in the advertising announcements to
the small screen, between other in the character of the
famous technician Maytag désœuvré.
Serge has an
excellent artistic formation of which a mastery in dramatic
art of the university of Quebec in Montreal. His/her/its
father, former combattant of the war of Korea, was
a portraitist at his/her/its hours. He/it knew how to transmit
to his/her/its son the importance of life and the love of
people. His/her/its mother, a very prudent business woman,
also had a beneficial influence on the young Serge.
When Serge is
not kept by liabilities in the theater where the television,
he adores to paint. Besides, he/it dedicates more and more
time to this growing passion: "As comedian, during all these
years on the boards, I interpreted words, the ideas, the
emotions and the passions of others. In my paintings, now,
I try to articulate my own observations. I believe that
a deep transformation of the traditional relations between
the sexes is causing a lot of distrust, of domination, of
frustration etc. A new shape of relation emerges all it
and it is this prompt moment that I tempt to seize and to
reproduce."
Serge assigns
largely to his/her/its father the love of the painting.
This last was him an excellent mentor for the blossoming
of the innate artistic talent at his/her/its son. Serge
also enrolled to courses by correspondence and of in the
evening; he perfected his/her/its painter's formation during
two years with Helen Béland and Daniel Brient at Mission
Renaissance, a subsidiary of the Glendale school. It is
this course that procured him the difficult technique of
the anatomy. Several of Serge's topics evoke the statuary
Greek classic. The sculptural shapes and the majestic poses
could take their place easily next to any neoclassic master.
The glorification of the human body is supreme in his/her/its
works. Several of these faces are produced in contrasting
monochromaticity, what puts more in evidence the balanced
composition and the worry of the detail of his/her/its pictures.
Serge's talent
for the illustration is manifest, but it also succeeds very
well in creating the interaction between the topics in his/her/its
paintings. Emotion... passion... sensuality... there is
what characterizes the game of the topics in reason, as
well as the spectator's involvement facing this stage. Serge
succeeds in creating different tonalities in his/her/its
monochrome works thanks to the bruise of ultramarine, to
the natural umber color and to titanium. When he/it has
resort to the full range of the palette, his/her/its pictures
take the pace of the chiefs - of work of Ruben and Renoirs.
For his/her/its
topics of painting, Serge is inspired notably by the discussions
with friends or pictures who feed his/her/its daily. After
having drawn a sketch of the faces in the space, he/it redraws
them to confer them movement, light and especially ambiance.
Once satisfied of the first sketch, he/it redraws to the
suit the or the topics on canvas or on cardboard while conferring
them the final detail and the sought-after colorations.
He/it loves the format 12 x inches 24 inches since he/it
procures him the challenge to integrate his/her/its faces
in a space restricts, what recalls him the situations of
the current life.
