5th Speech: The unspeakable torment
Jesus
knowing that all was consumed, so that the writing was accomplished
says:
'' I am thirsty. '' St. Jean XIX, 28,
|

The
tortures that Jesus endured during his Passion, some awful that
they were, of it has Him anything removed of his/her/its mind
lucidity. Also the interior desertion that tortures It and of
which He has just complained lovingly to his/her/its Father,
don't stop it from rereading far in the of the past, everything
that the prophets told It. No outrage saved to Him and, in a
moving abridgment, It reviews, It feels all predicted sufferings
in a way again of which the successive realization reduced it
at the miserable state where It is. He has only to verify the
speech of the Prophet David: in my horrible thirst, they only
gave me vinegar (1) Jesus, knowing it and wanting to accomplish
until the tip the predictions of the writing, exclaim: I am
thirsty, Sitio. Sympathize to this suffering of our divine Savior.
Of all torments that the human body can endure, the thirst is
the most intolerable. Extended at once of battle, the soldier
doesn't think even more of himself injuries, his/her/its complaint
asks for a little water to pacify the ardors of the fever. And
that she/it should be horrible Jesus' thirst! All had to light
it in Him; the exhausting agony, the night without sleep, the
streams of blood spilled during the flogging, the versed sweats
while carrying his/her/its cross that until the add from Mount
Calvary and since three hours, He/it nailed closely to his/her/its
gibbet, naked head, immobile under the sun that shot his/her/its
rays on his/her/its face without speaking of anguishes of his/her/its
soul that burned it better again that the fever lit in his/her/its
veins by the torment of his/her/its body. She/it had too many
motives therefore only to be real the thirst of which Jesus
complained. We would be tempted maybe to believe that being
united intimately to the Divinity, his/her/its humanity was
not reached to the same degree that ours by the physical suffering.
But when we hear it to exclaim: I am thirsty, this complaint
is the authentic attestation of the pain that all are other
torments caused to Him. She/it shows what he/it endured in his/its
body, as his/her/its scream of anguish toward God proves the
intensity of his/her/its interior martyrdom.
Make a double act of faith to the reality of the human nature
in Notre-Seigneur and to the reality of his/her/its sufferings.
There were during the centuries of the impious enough heretics
to deny one and the other. They pretended that the Christ's
body was only a body of appearance manipulated by a mind and
that, therefore, the narration of the Passion was only a devout
legend! That your faith protests against equals blasphemies.
Greet in the host Jesus' true Body, born of the Virgin Marie.
Ave verum corpus, natum ex Maria Virgine. Adore it in this state
of extinction that recalls a manner so striking his/her/its
immolation of the cross, Glass passum, immolatum in cruce
pro homine.
II
We
would not penetrate the real feelings of the dying Savior however,
we will underestimate the size of his/her/its love, if we didn't
understand what was on the Cross the thirst of which He/it endured
the more.
Sitit Deus sitiri. God is thirsty to be wanted, said St.
Grégoire of Nazianze. He/it puts in some fate his/her/its
ambition to be liked by his/her/its creatures. He/it liked the
world so much, It was so jealous to possess the heart of the
men, that he/it gave them his/her/its unique Son. That is indeed
this that Christ, wonder the Bienh. Father Eymard? ' It is the
love of God humanized, given to the man of all manners, under
all shapes and in all states to prove him his/her/its Creator's
love (2) ' see Jesus' life Also on the earth. All his/her/its
actions, all his/her/its teachings only had a goal: to attract,
to touch, to tie the souls to give them his/her/its Father.
And one understands then easily that after having suffered for
their bloodiest salute of the passions, that after having instituted
the Eucharist, as He/it was going to die, Jesus felt the desire
to see the men answering his/her/its love, desire of which he
could not express vehemence better that while comparing it to
a burning thirst.
Oh my divine Jesus, how to testify you our recognition of it?
Unde hoc mihi? (3)
OF where does come us this honor, this happiness to be liked
passionately by You? What could You seduce in us? And I hear
your love to answer me: it is the depth of your nothing, the
excess of your misery, the immensity of your needs that attracted
me toward you and made me sacrifice me for you! How to remain
insensible to such a charity, and not to endeavor to refresh
according to our power Jesus' Cœur? Of as much more that
as acting thus us satisfied the desire of our own heart.
Sitivit enlivened mea ad Deum vivum! (4) my soul is thirsty
of the living God! This speech of the holy king David, she/it
is not the scream of all human soul? Yes, the man needs God,
because he needs happiness and that the real happiness is only
in God. Too often the man doesn't understand it. Many imagine
to find the happiness in one or the other enjoyment that the
life-fortune offers; glory; love - but sooner or later the experience
proves that to the place to pacify their thirst of happiness,
these false goods only had it irritated.
And God, who put in us cœurs this thirst of the infinity,
was he/it going to wait to pacify it than us The ayions joins
in the other life? No, He/it sent us his/her/its Son, true God
as Him, as much to satisfy his/her/its appeal as to allow us
to satisfy our God's need. As listen to the invitations, multiplied
and pressing, of Jesus: '' If someone is thirsty, that he/it
comes to Me and that he/it drinks. The one that will drink the
water that I will give to him won't be thirsty more ever, because
the water that I would give to him will become in it a source
of water springing until the eternal life (5) ''. This mysterious
water, it was the sanctifying grace, involvement to God's very
life, that, of the holy united Jesus humanity substantially
to the Divinity, ensued like an inexhaustible and bracing source.
Yes, the incarnation it is indeed a God's mystery makes man
so that his/her/its creatures can see It, to hear it, The touch
and can fully enjoy Him. But He/it was farther. Obligated to
steal from our looks the glory of his/her/its resuscitated Humanity.
He/it compensated this deprivation while spreading his/her/its
real presence at a time to a multitude of places, while allowing
us to eat It! What to wish again before the face-to-face vision
of the Sky?
Oh Lord, thank you, a thousand times thank you to be brought
closer You thus of us. Can my soul to sigh after your presence,
as the deer altered after water to live, and to find always
in this thirst more ardent his/her/its delights and his/her/its
appeasement.
III
I
am thirsty. This complaint first fell on the group moved of
the holy women. Alas no one among them had what to offer the
divine executed a cooling. How to explain this oblivion? The
feminine gentleness and the maternal instinct are customarily
so farsighted! The Providence had had some otherwise in the
circumstance. He/it had missed a feature to Jesus' passion if
he/it had found the so humbly asked refreshing water drop: he/it
was able to missed a feature also to the human cruelty, if she/it
had granted to the holy Victim what one doesn't refuse, at this
supreme hour, to the worse criminal. The executioners yet go
farther. To the cruelty, they add the derision. There was there
a vase filled of vinegar his/her/its content served to sprinkle
the face of crucified them that vanished, in order to resuscitate
them. The soldiers soak a sponge there, fix it at the end of
a reed and approach it of Jesus' lips. Astonishing thing! Jesus
that, two hours before, had refused wine mingled of myrrh, inhale,
now the biting liquid that is presented to Him. Hey what! My
adorable Mr., didn't You endure enough? You want to increase
your thirst again by the absorption of this irritating drink!
It is to expiate the excesses of the intemperance thus. The
whips, the nails and thorns had only reached the surface of
your sacred members the thirst that You endure, burn in to the
all your organs, so that your holy Humanity was a holocaust
entirely consumed by the suffering. What lesson for our sensuality!
I am thirsty. This Jesus plain repeats it continually of the
bottom of the holy Host. He/it told expressly to Co Marguerite-Marie:
'' Am I thirsty to be honored of the men in the Saint Sacrement,
and don't I find no one that endeavors nearly, according to
my desire, to refresh me, using towards me of some return ''.
That make ourselves to answer this desire of the Sacred Cœur?
Is the rule of our piety exercises this many to refresh and
no to look for our own satisfaction? So, yes, why abandon them
when we are under an impression of discouragement, in a bad
mood, in the moments of interior aridity, or even simply, to
follow our fantasy?
I am thirsty. This Jesus complaint makes it to us to hear by
the mouth of the poor. They are a living and talking painting
of suffering Jesus. While relieving them, do we sympathize to
Jesus' pains Himself, '' In truth, does he/it say, all times
that you will have given to drink has least of my brothers,
is it Myself that you will have made It (6) ''. is we faithful
to the big duty of the charity towards the poor? Let's remember
the parabola of the bad rich that, dived in the middle of the
torments of the hell, asked in vain for a drop of water, because
he/it had refused the crumbs of his/her/its table to a beggar.
God is without mercy for those that are not merciful with regard
to the neighbor.
IV
That your reign arrives! It is the wish that we must form in answer
to the demand of Notre-Seigneur: I am thirsty.
Yes, divine Redeeming, be the king of the supporters: that all
endeavor to live according to the precepts of the gospel, and
to adapt all especially their life to the big precept of the charity.
'' Are the king of the prodigal children who abandoned you: make
that they regain the paternal house, not to perish of misery and
hunger, quickly. Be the king of those that of them express an
opinion erroneous deceived or that separated of the church by
a disagreement: Bring back them to the port of the truth and to
the unit of the faith, so that there is a herd soon only and that
a pastor. Be the king of all those that are dived in darkness
of idolatry or Islamism and don't refuse to bring back them all
in light of your royalty. '' (7)
We pray You, Lord, us, that, admitted there at the holy Table
draw with joy in the Savior's sources, that his/her/its Blood
becomes for us a source of white-water springing until in the
eternal life (8).
Cœur of Jesus, king and center of all cœurses, have
mercy of us.
Cœur of Jesus, source of life and holiness, have mercy of
us. |

Speech: The supreme testimony
When
Jesus had taken vinegar, he says: '' All is consumed. '' St.
Jean XIX, 30,sss
|

Hardly
the executioners had them retired the sponge moistened of vinegar
that they had presented to him, that Jesus, of his/her/its dying
lips, dropped this mysterious and deep speech: Consummatum is.
All is consumed. In his/her/its simplicity, it was the most
imposing testimony that could surrender to Himself. The one
that holy Paul calls the faithful witness par excellence. As
entering in this Jesus world had told his/her/its Father: Here
I am, I come to accomplish your will, it is - to-dre, I come
to execute the work of restoration that, in your love, You conceived.
But no illusion to make. The achievement of this divine intention
asked for The one that offered itself voluntarily to make itself/themselves
the instrument of it a sum of works and really extraordinary
sacrifices.
However, this same Jesus who said, without person was ever able
to convince it of lie: I am the truth, here it is that at the
hour of his/her/its death He/it affirms that all is consumed.
It came back to say: my Father, You wanted to pacify your just
anger a victim who passed by all humiliations all sufferings
of which You had fixed the detail by the oracles of the prophets:
it is made, look at my body, he/it carries the marks of all
torments that I endured; to facilitate the path that leads to
the holiness, to the beatitude, You wanted that the souls of
good will can have before the eyes a model that either for them
a stimulant at the same time as a help; it is made I put to
profit, without in to let anything lose the lights départies
to my intelligence, the impetuses communicated to my will, I
practiced all virtues, those especially of which the need made
itself and will always make itself the more to feel: the humility,
the sweetness, the purity, poverty.
Yes, my divine Jesus, he/it is some thus. On my turn, I like
returning You this testimony. When I open the Saint Writing
and that I compare between them the two Wills, I find achieved
in the gospel everything that had been announced about your
case. I recognize you for David's Son, born of a virgin mother,;
You were indeed a hidden God, living during thirty years in
forgets it in Nazareth; but on time marked You are made yourselves
God's spokesman,
announcing the good news, showing the leniency of the lamb all
at once to welcome the small and the strength of the lion to
grind under apostrophes without retort, the enemies of God's
kingdom, everywhere. The Jewish people waited for a liberator,
you straightened his/her/its shabby and out of date views his/her/its
expectations while pulling the whole world to the most ashamed
of the servitude. And since all these prophecies achieved themselves,
I believe in the realization of those that looks at the consumption
of the centuries, You said to the court of Caïphe: I declare
it to You, will come one day where you will see Me on the clouds
of the sky, seated to the right of the divine Majesty, Yes,
I believe in your second arrival, sovereign Judge of the living
and deaths, Judex crederis esse venturus, (9) but how much I
am happy, while waiting for this dangerous day to adore You
in the weakness and the silence of your sacramental state. There
You accomplish the prophecies again and achieve the faces that
in the former Will, let foresee the existence of the Eucharist.
The Tabernacle is not - it the real ark of alliance or You don't
perpetually reside, the ear attentive to all our demands; The
altar is not - it not the place where You sacrifice, You, the
true paschal lamb whose widespread blood separates of us the
divine angers. ? And Yourself didn't you say that the bread
eucharistique was the real manna, a food of eternal life for
those that cross the desert of the present life? Consummatum
is. All is accomplished. It is Yourself that I possess close
to me, oh Jesus, I believe it and I adore You.
II
Consummatum
is. All is consumed! How not to bring closer of Jesus' speech
the one of his/her/its privileged apostle: cum dilexissel suoas,
in finem dilexit eos (10). having wanted to like the men, his/her/its
brothers, Jesus liked them to the extreme. Certainly, it is
a lot of love of God for his/her/its creatures that he/it agrees
to say that he/it reached his/its apogee in the mystery of the
Redemption, whose prelude was the incarnation, and the coronation
is the Eucharist. Also the revelation of the Sacred heart it
doesn't have summer that a recall of these love prodigies, Co
Marguerite-Marie saw the Sacred Cœur surrounded visibly
with one crown of thorns, surmounted of a cross, structural
the injury received by the stroke of spear, and Notre-Seigneur,
appearing in the Saint Host, told his/her/its confidante while
discovering him his/her/its Cœur; There is this Cœur
that liked the men, who didn't save anything, as far as exhausting
itself/themselves and to consume itself/themselves to testify
them his/her/its love, so much.
Actually, God could he/it make more for us? He/it could not
have had for us that the sympathy, the kindliness, the mercy,:
of his/her/its part it had been already an admirable condescension.
But of the love! And yet he/it is some thus. The very creation
was an act of love, since it contained, with the grant of the
natural life, the involvement by the thanks to the divine life
and the insurance to enter in possession of the Sky, and has
that Adam sins! Is God going finally, to feel free of all any
feeling of interest for the man? Well on the contrary, his/her/its
love finds an opportunity, incomparable to affirm itself/themselves,
there It wants to restore the building of his/her/its grace,
It wants to redo his/her/its dishonored picture in us by the
sin. Is it therefore that he/it forgave? Yes, But how He/it
could have been content with an absolution sentence: it was
already more that the guilty man could not hope, it was however
too little for his/her/its love. This solemn and cold discharge
would not have hit us enough, God sends his Son in order to
make touch us of the finger, in his/her/its immolation, the
atonement of our mistakes and the insurance of the divine forgiveness.
That holy Paul was right to exclaim: Propter nimiam chariatem
qua dilexit our. (11) It is in an excess of love that God acted
of the sort! And to say that he/it found means to move back
the limits of his/her/its love again beyond everything that
the human or angelic intelligence could suspect: while instituting
the eucharistie! But here, it is indeed the end, in finem. The
love wants the grant: God in the Eucharist, give himself Himself
and he/it cannot give more, The love wants the union: God, in
the Communion, makes himself/itself our food, and this union
is the most intimate than our terrestrial condition can include,
Next, it remains only the sky!
Oh my God, how to express You my recognition? Who retribuam
Domino (12)?
My heart is delighted to know how to like by You. I will like
You by my being's fibers, that I dedicate You to life and to
the death.
III
Consummatum
is. All is consumed! What deep appeasement this speech must
procure to Jesus' soul! He/it was going to die and to give account
to God of his/her/its mission, but nothing, absolutely nothing
had this solemn instant dreaded. He/it would present himself/itself
the hands full of good œuvres, and his/her/its soul would
immediately be exalted by all the run celestial like a reward
due to his/her/its merits, until his/her/its body is glorified
in the triumph of the resurrection.
That we would be happy if, to the death, we could surrender
the same testimony! Because for each of us God has also, of
all eternity, conceived a plan of life. He/it determined some
with care the least details and to achieve it his/her/its grace
attends us continually. To adapt us to God's particular will
on us, it is our big duty, the unique necessary of which depends
our salute. The sin is not something else that the substitution
of our will to the one of God. If this mess goes until the refusal
of submissiveness to a serious precept, it constitutes a deadly
mistake and has not been erased as a long time that it, it keeps
us completely outside of our way. But without going until this
extremity, that he/it is easy, alas, to live continually in
margin of God's plan! The venial sin of which one generally
makes if little case, that is - him therefore, otherwise a gap
of our will that prefers his/her/its satisfaction to an obligation
imposed by God? And the imperfections grants our days swarm,
that they are, otherwise of the protrusions of the me opposing
God's absolute domination in our soul? So that, without even
to commit voluntary mistakes, we can nearly underestimate constantly
the order of our creation and can live thus in a more or less
continual disagreement with God's will.
My God, that I am far from the perfection of my divine Model!
What responsibility weighs on me to have rejected so often and
so easily the graces that you offered me What gap between what
You wanted to make me by your grace and what I made myself while
following the solicitations of the demon or my own will! Forgiveness,
Lord. Henceforth I want to walk generously by the path that
all express You drew for me. I hear the voice of the damned
that exclaims with despair; all is consumed, for us more of
joy, more of hope, nothing that an eternal suffering. I want
to avoid their misfortune. I hear the souls of the purgatory
that, while moaning, repeat: all is consumed, for us the time
passed of the deserving works that offered themselves to us
with such an abundance during our life. I will take advantage
of them warn, and, to save me their sterile regrets, I would
multiply the good actions. I hear the saints that, full of rejoicing,
retell; all is consumed, for us more of bad days, more of affections,
nothing that the enjoyment of a happiness proportioned to our
efforts. I will imitate their examples, so that at my last hour
I can say like Paul saint; I fought the good fight, I finished
my race, I kept the faith, I have only to receive, of the hands
of the just Judge, the crown of justice (13)
IV
While
finishing this meditation, unite yourselves to the prayer that
to the evening of the Last Supper, Jesus formulated for his
Church. It is the burning vœu of his/her/its Cœur
in view of consumption of all souls in the unit of the faith
and the love, so that they are united forever to their divine
Chief.
'' Holy father. I pray You for cough those that will believe
in Me by the predication of my apostles, so that all he/it is
one, as You, my Father, You are in Me and Me in You. - so that,
them also, they are one in Us, so that the world believes that
You sent to me, I made them know the glory that You gave to
me, so that they are perfectly one, ut sint consummati in unum,
and that the world knows that You sent to Me, and that You liked
them as You liked Me, Father those that You gave to Me, I want
that there, or I am, They are there with Me, so that they see
the glory that You gave to Me, because You liked Me before the
creation of the world '' (14).

Speech: The last homage
And
crying again of a strong voice, Jesus says:
'' Father, I put back my soul enter your hands. '' St Luc. XXII,
46.
|

Anyone
attended the spectacle distressing of a human agony didn't miss
to notice the progressive weakening of all life demonstrations;
one near the other, the senses die out, as life decreases, the
silence of the helpers makes itself deeper in order to collect
the last sigh of the dying. So in the Clavaire, since soon three
Jesus heurs was attached to the Cross his/her/its livid face,
his/her/its vitreous eyes, his/her/its bloodless body and was
subsided on himself: all made foresee a next outcome, Jesus
Himself didn't come him to say that all was consumed? There
were not more therefore that to wait that he/it exhaled his/its
last sigh. And now sudden the divine Agonizing straightens itself,
supported in a way on his/her/its wounds, and of a strong way
He/it exclaims: Father, I put back my soul between your hands.
Finally, Jesus' death became more obviously than ever a God's
death, It had said some days before: '' No one can remove me
life: I prepare some to my will; I have the power to leave it
and to take it when he/it pleases Me. '' (15) His/her/its superhuman
scream, had just shown it. It was there a fact so evidently
supernatural that the centurion, witness of everything who had
happened, cannot stop from returning glory to God said to some:
Indeed this man was Son of God! (16)
But, remarkable thing, in the very moment or manifest Jesus
thus his/her/its omnipotence, He/it attests his/its submissiveness
with regard to his/her/its Father; the words by which He/it
affirms his/its independence to the look of the death, also
express his/her/its dependence opposite his/her/its Father.
During his/her/its life He/it made Him homage of all his/her/its
works, now He/it makes Him homage of his/her/its life her even,
while accepting full heart the separation of his/her/its soul
and his/her/its body, equal to God splicing that second person
of the holy Trinidad, He/it recognizes himself/itself therefore
lower to Him according to the human nature. It is in short the
whole mystery of the incarnation that Jesus condensed in his
last speech.
Yes, my Jesus, I believe firmly that You are true God and true
man, True God, I adore You and I recognize You of it the author
of life and the sovereign master of the death, True man, I unite
to the sublime homage of submissiveness that You returned to
the divine Majesty, and it is while making it pass by your very
holy lips that I retell this total abandonment act to God's
will: '' Lord, my God, from now on I accept gladly and exactly
of your hand the kind of death, whatever he/it is, that he/it
will please You to inflict me, with all his/her/its anguishes,
himself pains and his/her/its pains. '' (17)
II
It
is for us as much that for Him that Jesus uttered his last speech.
Let's suppose indeed that he/it didn't tell it, his/her/its
divinity had been put otherwise sufficiently in relief so that
one could not doubt some; but us, we would not have had the
consolation to hear Jesus to teach us the confidence at the
dangerous hour of the death the drama of Mount Calvary had been
dominated by the scream of distress: my God, why have me - You
abandoned, while now he/it ends in an act of sweet abandonment.
Father, says Jesus. An ineffable joy ray must illuminate his/her/its
look become again living then; the feeling of sadness, caused
by the mysterious desertion of which It had endured, had vanished;
God, He/it felt it again, was indeed his/her/its Father, and
He/it inhaled after the moment where perfects in all point.
Also with an abandonment all filial, he/it puts back this soul
between his/her/its Father's hands, He/it confides it to Him
as the most precious treasure than he/it possesses, with the
pain insurance that she/it will be kept well. There is our model!
That him example of Jesus has hope marvelously to contemplate
their eyes the Messiah, for us, Christian, the death is our
answer to the call of the celestial Father, that invites us
to enjoy Himself and all his/her/its goods for the eternity.
Thank you, oh Jesus, of us to have taught by your speech the
real attitude to take in front of the death. Who will tell us
the number of souls that this speech comforted? Numerous are
the saints who died while retelling it, radiated of joy. I also
draw myself in to taste all the discerning sweetness one day,
and by before, oh my Savior, I thank You for the graces that
she/it will procure to my soul.
Dice now, we can get ready to this big act of the death by the
virtue of the Eucharist. That he/it will be soft and to put
back our soul between the hands of The one that, so much time
during life, puts back between our hands, by the Communion,
his/her/its Body, his/her/its Blood, his/her/its Soul, his/her/its
Divinity,: everything that he/it is! How would not we have confidence
in Him, since he/it has confidence in us to the point to deliver
itself/themselves entire to us?
Ah, that he/it is good God, said a saint. And it is above all
by the exercise of his/her/its mercy that him manifest his/her/its
goodness. In the human courts, that serves the repentance? The
judges don't apply less of them the punishments foreseen by
the law. The sin is the only pain qu one heals while crying,
by that that God, to which our repentance addresses, be honored
more by this act of confidence in his/her/its mercy, that it
has not been injured in his/her/its honor by our offenses. As
he/it has anything neglected Himself to warn us against the
despair and to excite us to the confidence, flying that his/her/its
Son's last speech was a song of hope, intended to sustain us
on most agonizing hour of our life.
III
Father,
I put back my soul between your hands. While throwing this scream
skywards. Our Lord protested against the profanity of all men,
that refused or, in the future, would refuse to believe in the
existence and that the immortality of the human soul. For them,
the man is only an animal, doubted of more refined instincts
than those of the other animals, but for him as for these, all
finishes to the death. It is necessary to benefit therefore
of the present life, to be satisfied without shame, because
after, him there not of account to return; after the death,
there are only the decomposition and nothing. What injury to
wisdom, to God's goodness! He/it accepts the contest of the
parents in the formation of the human body, but He/it reserves
the power to create the souls, to mark us the size, the nobility
of this spiritual principle that enlivens all our to be. And
has that of the thousand and the thousands of men, under pretext
that this soul is invisible, but especially by what his/her/its
immortality embarrasses their passions, refuse to believe there
and don't use of their faculties that to restore itself/themselves,
by their excesses, below the very animals. - Oh Jesus, with
You I protest against such profanities, I believe that in me
lives a spiritual, free soul, immortal. I thank You for this
grant that allows me to know You, to like You and that I will
be worth You that to contemplate one face-to-face day, I repent
to have disregarded the care of my soul so often, to have sacrificed
his/her/its interests to them of my body while lacking fidelity
to my duties and generosity in the face the virtue. I am able
henceforth well to understand your divine speech: what serves
to the man to win the universe, if he/it comes to lose his/her/its
soul? (18)
It is necessary to say as honorable fine for all those that
frustrate the souls of graces that Jesus dying deserved them.
Is not - this not the custom nowadays, under pretext not to
frighten the patients, not to warn them in time of the gravity
of their state and the approach of the death?
Well
often one waits that the dying fainted to ask for the aid of
the priest and the help of the Religion. Impious and barbaric
custom! She/it stops the Christian from dying in Christian,
in not letting him the time to accept and to make in full knowledge
his/her/its supreme holocaust; she/it removes to the sinner
the opportunity to make this last act to repent, this last prayer
that the approach known of the death provokes so easily, and
that can repair the mistakes and the iniquities of a whole life.
It is a breach of confidence, because it steal from the neighbor
the confessions and the Eucharist to the what he/it has right
according to his/her/its Baptism, and of which more that he/it
ever has then needs. There is a serious obligation therefore
for the parents, the near and, to their defect, for the neighbors
to watch what the holy Money and the extreme-unction are carried
to the patients while they have in full possession of themselves,
and even capable to cooperate, by their faith and by their piety,
to one receipt more fruitful of the sacraments. Take the resolution
to fill this big duty of Christian charity faithfully and to
fight around you the manner to think and of agsir that is opposed.
IV
A
very full day makes find good the sleep; a very full life makes
soft the death. If one feels the pain to put back his/her/its
soul filially between God's hands, it is because, during life,
one didn't act filially with Him. Instead of not seeing in all
events that of arrangements of his/her/its Providence, one is
agitated, one worries, one is, one lets infiltrate in the soul
doubts it on wisdom and God's goodness. Instead of searching
for all opportunities avidly to please to Him, one is languid
and tepid; the sin, especially the venial sin only inspires
little one horror deep. Instead of raising his/her/its soul
constantly skywards and to inhale sincerely toward this paternal
home, one lets the heart become attached to the miles mere nothing
of the earth and one finishes after satisfying itself/themselves
of it. When comes the hour of the death, one is then all disposed
to complain, the sacrifice of the separation is a lot more painful
that is hardly if one the courage to formulate an act of resignation.
Oh my divine Jesus, no, it is not as well as I want to die.
I want that my death is in conformity with yours, and for it
I want myself there to prepare by the memory usual of the last
ends and by the renouncement to everything that is an obstacle
to my salute. The death is only sad for those that don't dare
to wonder there. But those that like Christ, are not afraid
his/her/its to familiarize with the thought of the death, and
as the apostle St Paul they say: the death is not for me good
fortune, because I am in a hurry to be united to the Christ
(19) That it is some thus for me!
Jesus, Marie, Joseph, I give You my heart, my mind, my life.
Jesus, Marie, Joseph, help me in my last agony
Jesus, Marie, Joseph, make that I die in peace in your holy
company. (20)

Path
of the cross
Preparatory
prayer
Oh Jesus, my divine Redeeming, I intend to follow you in mind
in the way painful of Mount Calvary, Inspire me a to stretch
compassion for your sufferings and a quick regret of my mistakes.
Grant me to win for the souls of the Purgatory the indulgences
attached to this convenient saint.
And because nothing would know how to give me a higher idea
of your love that the living Memorial of your Passion I will
unite, while meditating them, these two mysteries in order to
the better to understand, of their better to taste and to find
a more powerful motive of confidence there in your goodness.

Jesus is condemned to death
Jesus
accepts this sentence, not that he approves the injustice of
it, but because he sees the providential means there operating
the redemption of the world. While dying on the cross he/it
will expiate our sins, he/it will return us the life of the
grace. The most often God's ways is thus impenetrable but how
much fertile!
- For me, OH Jesus, I am condemned to death by a jute punishment
of my mistakes: I submit there humbly; but, thanks to the Co
Mass that applies to my soul the merits of your Passion, thanks
to the Co Communion that deposits in my very body a germ of
immortality, I have the firm hope to live with you for the eternity!

Jesus is put in charge of his cross
Life,
said St. Grégoire, is only an anticipation of the death,
because it is sowed of pains and miseries. As Jesus always compassionate
he has wanted to browse the road from the court to Mount Calvary,
while carrying his/her/its cross and in this journey he/it didn't
endure more sufferings than no human life would know to unite
some.
I had my marked place, oh Jesus, among those that insulted you
and turned you in derision along the path. And now that I am
myself bent under the cross, where is you, otherwise by me in
the Eucharist and in me by your grace to comfort me, to fortify
me, to sanctify me! That I would be ungrateful not to benefit
some and to look for elsewhere that in you the support of which
my soul has need!
3 - station
Jesus falls for the first time
He/it
had there for Jesus no shade of imperfection in this failing
of his/her/its flesh. He/it allowed it to make against weight,
by his/her/its voluntary humiliation, to our pride, ashamed
to go down even when we are guilty, Jesus is going until to
stand up under the threat of the cops as the animal by fear
of the bad treatments!
Alas when I fall by my mistake in the sin I am incapable to
raise me by myself, it is necessary that God inspires me the
desire of it and gives me will of it OH Lord, if I had the misfortune
to offend you seriously, grant me the grace of an expeditious
and sincere contrition so that I am able to seal our reconciliation
the earliest while sitting me at Your sacred table.
4 - station
Jesus meets his very holy Mother.
Marie
didn't follow Jesus. To place was not in the impious cortege
that pushed his/her/its Son toward the cross. She/it meets the
divine convicted like to dam up the stream of hate that carries
away it, but she/it respects God's intentions and soon she/it
meets to the feet of the Cross for offrire with the Redeemer
the sacrifice of the salute. Since then, joining his/her/its
efforts to those of his/her/its Son, that of sinner doesn't
have - t her not decrees on the path of the eternal perdition!
Don't permit. Oh Mayor, that I ever get lost far from God, but
teach me to meeting my Savior where he/it doesn't wait especially:
to the feast of the Eucharist and to the Paradise of the elected.
5 - station
The Cyénéen helps Jesus to carry his/her/its Cross
All
the history of our soul is in this stage! Without the Redemption
we would not be saved. Without our coopéraiton Christ's
work would remain vain. And it is around the Cross, therefore
by the suffering, that himself must weld one to the other the
work of the man and the one of the Savior. '' If someone wants
to come after me, said Jesus, that he/it renounces himself/itself
himself, that he/it takes his/its cross and that him to follow
me. ''
Oh good Mr., this doctrine so austere you had the gentleness
to ease us the rigor not only of it by your example but while
coming by the Co Communion to help us to carry our cross by
love for you. That so much goodness finally carries his/her/its
fruits!
6 - station
Véronique wipes the face of Notre-Seigneur
Him
faillait of the heart to brave the brutality of the soldiers
and the jokings of the crowd thus. Véronique's gesture
to the pain and that devotes himself to relieve it. All immortal
and impassive that you are, oh Jesus, you undergo innumerable
affronts to which again you cannot remain insensible.
Your complaints to Co Marguerite Marie are not the declamation!
Put therefore in my heart the feelings delicate and strong of
a sincere friendship so that I can myself of the less, to compensate
you, according to my to provide,; of the outrages that reach
you in the Sacrament of your love.
7 - station
Jesus falls for the second time
The
fatigue that numbs the members of Jesus joined to the discomforts
of the craggy road is right once again of his/her/its strengths.
He/it falls while thinking with mercy of the souls overwhelmed
on the ground of spiritual weariness or piers by the scandal:
all victims of their presumption. Having counted too much on
them even and by enough on God, they exposed themselves too
much or not advanced enough.
Yet that emergency offers us the prayer, the use of the sacraments,
the ministry of the priests! If I took care to resort there
how much I would be warned against my own weakness and against
the scandals of the world. Oh Jesus, so be it.
8 - station
Jesus comforts the women of Jerusalem
It
is the unique circumstance where, according to the gospel, Jesus
spoke during the course of the painful way. The approach of
the death, the malevolence of his/her/its setting, the state
of weariness where it was was sufficient to concentrate it in
a silence that aggravated his/her/its laborious situation besides.
But through the uproar he/it discerned the laments nice of a
group of women and turning around toward them, he/it addresses
them his/her/its supreme recommendations.
If him, the good - beloved of the Father, is been about the
sort because iI wanted to expiate our mistakes, that it of the
sinner will be some that, such a dry tree, dies in God's inimité!
Oh Jesus, I want to unite frequently to you in the Co Communion
in order to live in you and to have separated never of you.
9 - station
Jesus falls for the third time
The
souls little Christian and the infidels are shocked by these
multiple falls: is this a conduct that suits to the Son of the
God Strong? But that imports after all that we didn't penetrate
this mystery? May be Jesus has him wanted to expiate a special
manner the triple repudiation of the chief of the apostles.
He/it seems also that he/it had at heart to repair the sins
usually that a fatal cowardice lets take root in the soul.
Keep me, oh Jesus, of this misfortune. Preserve me of the blindness
and the false shame that are the most frequent reasons of it.
Make on the contrary that, docile to your grace, I always make
more active the holy habits deposited in me by the Baptism and
that the Communion comes to stimulate while fortifying them.
10 - station
Jesus is stripped of his clothes
The
Roman law forbade to expose the convicted in a complete nudity.
On the other hand the exemption of the concupiscence stopped
Jesus from feeling the shame of that strip in public. This qu
made it endure that the at the moment was the brutality of the
executioners pulling without mercy the clothes glued to the
bruised flesh. By the wounds handed to quick, the last reserves
of blood escaped and the thirst, that the heat of the sun to
his/her/its noon returned atrocious plous, fired the divine
convicted.
By the merit of these horrible tortures learn me, oh Jesus,
to detach me of everything that overnight to the purity of my
soul and by the receipt of your sacred Body don me of the virtues
that will make me pleasant to God's looks.
11 - station
Attached Jesus to the Cross
Jesus
sees himself/itself applying the torment of the slaves, but
he endures it with the whole dignity of God's true Son. It is
the retort victorious to Adam's mistake that, willingly, had
thrown the humanity in the slavery of the demon, Jesus crucified
is the picture of the Christian that contracts to the baptism
the obligation to put to death his/her/its bad leanings, but
he is as actually the fruit of the life tree that it is necessary
to pick and to eat to escape the eternal death.
Oh Marie, you the new Éve, present me this blessed fruit;
maintain in my heart the taste of the eucharistie; learn me
to receive communion well.
12 - station
Jesus Meurt on the Cross
To
be born in a manger to die on a gibbet, and, between these two
extremes, to sanctify itself/themselves as being suspected of
the worse mistakes, to make the good without being understood,:
what apparently unhappy existence! It was yours, oh Jesus. Maybe
to the foot of the Cross would have I given reason in the world
that disdains you and panic for the good - to be, the pleasures,
the human glory. But that I would have answered e while seeing
you, the two days later, to come glorious out of the tomb?
That the spectacle of your death disillusions me once for all
of the vanities of the earth and that while uniting me effectively
to your immolation eucharistique I get ready to make a saint
death.
13-station
Jesus is detached of the Cross
Marie's
martyrdom continues beyond the one of his/her/its Son and this
deposition is a sort of communion that parachève the
bloody sacrifice of the divine Victim. Marie concentrates her
attention on the wound of the heart of where has just sprung
blood and water. As once in Bethlehem, the Virgin-Mother meditated
the sense of this mysterious évènement. She/it
discovers the symbol of the sacraments that will give him his/her/its
children there of adapted; the baptism and the Eucharist.
You prayed then for us, for me, oh Marie, and it is thanks to
you that I received the supernatural life, it is yours that
I owe to be able to feed me the true Bread of the Christian
family.
14 - station
Set down Jesus in the tomb
To the what readiness, what generosity, what
respect Marie and the Co Women, Jean and the disciples they
didn't provide to Jesus' sépultre! And yet, does Marie
bet to part, this cadaver while becoming stiff didn't he have
frozen their faith and their hope? In their thought it was the
last duty that he/it returned to The one of which their friendship
would cultivate the memory henceforth.
For us, not only our faith and our hope don't have any reason
to be shaken but our love possesses better than the resuscitated
Jesus memory. It is Himself that the Eucharist keeps us and
give us. If the altar with the tabernacle looks like a tomb,
Jesus in fate frequently to appear has in the host of the exhibition
or to come, full of life, in our souls and there to sow, with
the comfort, the hope of one eternity of happiness.
